Two of lightweights greatest weight climbers 15 rounds at welterweight, neither really at their best weight Does Duran outfox and slip and slide his way to victory, or does Langford make Duran fall face forward before Hearns gets his chance?
The existing footage is him as a light heavyweight, 10 years past his lightweight & welterweight days. The best footage by far is him in 1913 vs Jeanette. He outpointed Gans in 1903 and Walcott in 1904 when his style had not fully evolved to what it became by 1913, so it's hard to say. It's safe to say Duran woukd be favored because of the evolution of boxing, but if Langford fought in the 1970s he would be a household name and compete with anyone, including Duran.
He was a light heavy in his prime but his best weight was around 165. Id say its pretty fair to meet at the middle.
165 isnt a natural light heavyweight. Is this a boxing forum or a physical measurements forum. Duran held his own against Hagler for 15. Dont you think a closer-to-prime Duran would have done better against a younger, less experienced Hagler?
Langford was perfect between 175 and 180 pounds and duran was crappy at middleweight. Langford destroys him easily. It is a missmatch. The next time you could make a thread about tyson vs alexis arguello
And Duran was perfect at 135-140. It's at welterweight. Noone easily destroys a close-to-prime Duran.
