Who did Duran ever knock out like Tony Margarito? Remember Duran was a big hitter at lightweight. Far south from welter. Which big welter the likes of Margo did he KTFO?
Mind you, I think Margo would be tougher for Duran to KO than Cuevas was but a referee stoppage is a possibility.
Please explain the humor. You consider Margarito better than the man considered one of the hardest hitting WW's of all time, who defended his WW title 11 times(10 by KO), and was known for having a great chin prior to getting stopped by Hearns?
This has nothing to do with punching power or who achieved more. We're talking about durability here. Are you seriously putting Cuevas on the same level as Margo in this department? Crazy talk. To say the least.
I don't neccessarily, considering Margarito was even easier to hit, and less dangerous with his power than Cuevas. The only thing to take into consideration is that Cuevas was starting to decline at the time.
Why? He was known for his chin and toughness prior to being stopped by the hardest hitting, most skilled punching, bext boxing WW to ever live. Unless you're arguing that Hearns ruined him I don't get the humor. Are you saying Margarito is more durable than Duran as well, considering Hearns KO'd him?
Don't worry about it, when Cotto beats Margarito's ass I am going to bump the **** out of this thread everyday for a month
I'm saying Cuevas did not take the kind of damage Margo does today without going down. I've seen Margo walk into big punches and barely flinch. Cuevas was dropped by punches that he walked into.
True enough. Cuevas had better defensive technique than Margo and Duran still managed to sneak that solid right hand that set up the win for him. I could see Duran land almost at will against Margarito.
I've not seen Margo hit with too many big shots really. He has a good chin no doubt, but he didn't really take anything devastating from Cintron because he smothered him and rendered his limited style useless. He was facing a big puncher, but he didn't get hit big. Cuevas had to rely on taking punishment, as he was a puncher through and through, and susceptible to being outboxed. Cuevas was also only dropped against Hearns prior to his Duran stoppage loss if I'm correct.
