I know people will say Monzon, but will it be lopsided or something? I know sometimes I look like a Duran fan, but I am also realistic. I lean towards Carlos, but in a close figt.
Dude, Duran wasn't a middleweight. Carlos Monzon? He'd probably scalp Roberto, and I love Roberto Duran.
I rate Duran very highly (#6 on my all-time P4P list) but he isn't beating arguably the greatest Middleweight ever. Monzon's style is all-wrong for Duran, who would struggle all night to get past the jab and straight-right. The size advantage, and Monzon being very adept at using his height and reach, make this a one-sided affair.
Duran's going to lose, it's just a question of by how much. But a Monzon/Hearn's poll or a Monzon/Hagler poll would be interesting.
Monzon has pretty much every clear cut advantage in this fight. He's taller, stronger and overall just a better fighter at MW compared to Roberto whose best years were at 135. Carlos would stop him by the 7th or 8th round at most in a very brutal fashion I'd imagine. I only rate Ray RObinson higher than him at MW and possibly Marvelous Hagler.
got a feeling Monzon would take it. but post it in the Classic, sew what they come up with (tho a load of em picked Langford to be Wladim
Monzon would absolutely son Duran. it would be the worst beating he'd ever take. Monzon by the 9th after giving duran a sick beating where he'd never be the same after. some people here make me laugh.
Monzon is the greatest middleweight of the post war era,an absolute natural at the weight who once came in overweight on the day and ran three miles and sparred three rounds then later that night scored a 14th rnd KO against no less than Emile Griffith. Duran will feature higher on P4P lists, but this is not a fair fight. He fought at MW because it was an easier weight to make later on in his career. He's no ATG middleweight
