Mosely loves a scrap & his D is too open for a fighter like Duran at his best... Duran on the other hand had a very good defence & hit very hard to both body & head regularly.
Im not even sure Shane does better on the outside, I think Duran wins a solid decision.

Mosley is a mid range fighter, which means he would be in position to take punishment from one of the greatest offensive weapons of all time. He has a decent enough inside game, but I don't think he would want to be in close quarters with Duran and he doesn't have the ability to box him on the outside.

Nazim throws in the towel in the 9th.

Fact is Mosley was better than anyone Duran ever fought at lightweight. Take that into consideration. But still, Mosley's style of fighting on the inside and not using lateral movement much works into Duran's favor at both lightweight and welterweight. Mayweather or Whitaker would have beaten Duran at 135 probably, but I could say Mosley take a beating against Duran's style which was good when the guys were in his range. I hate to say Mayweather would beat Duran because he handpicks guys, but his style and speed would neutralize Duran's style. Duran moved up in competition when he went up in weight.

MAG just stay away from the Duran threads because you have no idea what you are talking about.

Mosley vs Duran would be a war...I dont believe Shane is getting stopped in this one and I think he is being pretty competitive but in the end I think he just lacks the skill, D or ring smarts the overcome a prime Duran.

    Roberto wins about 10-5 over 15 or a clear 7-3 over 12.

:-( so wrong. Ken Buchanan and Esteban DeJesus were better lightweights than Mosley and by quite a bit. You think the man who beat Leonard would lose to Mayweather? Whitaker-Duran would be 50/50 but everything else you wrote is just soo wrong.

It goes against a boxing message board to stay away from topics because other people do not agree. You want only people to agree then you should join a Duran appreciation message board. All people have different opinions. I think Duran is overrated a bit and speed was his weakness. For Mosley his style would have always been ok since Duran does better when guys stay in his range, regardless of speed. He was great that way, but when a guy used movement to get out of his range, Duran would plod and have his feet wide apart. Thing is the guys at lightweight were not great enough to exploit it.

Mosley was not at his best at lightweight, but still it is a bad style matchup for him. I think he might neutralize Duran for a little while because of the speed, but Duran would be hitting him at times. Mosley not better than Buchanan and DeJesus? Come on? You mean at lightweight? Yes I think the man who Leonard beat two times easily and made quit would also lose to Mayweather.

Duran had more than enough speed to cause Mosley problems. And that's Mosley's only chance for victory. Duran is too much for Mosley and would win by a clear decision.

Also the "rubber" match with leonard was nothing more than pay cheques. Both were way past there best and has little bearing on either of there legacies.

It was a little more than paychecks then. Leonard was WBC supermiddleweight champ and Duran was WBC middleweight champ. What that fight again showed was that Duran fought well when he had the right style (Barkley), and when a guy moved like Ray he couldn't do anything. The 3rd fight with Ray for Duran was very similar to Ray vs. Duran in the second fight. It solidified Ray's dominance over Duran.

You cant tell him anything mate...His mind is made up, the record book says it all for him..He refuses to take any other factors into account when it comes to Duran but is happy to give Leonard a pass.

Yeah, MIDDLEWEIGHT champ...that's 25 pounds over his best weight and he's been a professional for 15 years, had 92 professional fights and had lost to fighters he would have never have lost to in his prime. The fact that Duran was still competitive at this stage of career is a testement to how great of a fighter he is/was.

The 3rd fight had no bearing on leagacies what so ever.

Ray won fights against ATG fighters. How is that giving him a pass. Ray beat Duran,Hearns,Benitez,Hagler. Duran lost to Leonard,Hearns,Benitez, Hagler. I look at the record books because they speak for themselves. You cannot put a person as ATG top 10 just because you want to.

This is the way I see things too, including your advice for MAG to either stay away from Duran fights or take the time to actually watch him fight.
