Mayweather does get underrated and I think he could cause Duran a few problems but effective aggresion would be the key here as Duran gives Mayweather more than hes ever handled. He makes Duran look bad in patches but Duran gets the UD.

Yeah, pardon my fit of laughter. Really, Mayweather does get underrated and probably because he's a charm-deficient slickster. But the reason I laugh is because while he was an awesome lightweight, what he is at welterweight is only very very good, imo. Not great. Whereas I think Duran was a great welterweight. If PBF were Leonard's size with that strength, it would be different but I think Duran gets him broken to pieces. He'll walk through absolutely everything Mayweather is capable of throwing and beat the hell out of him. He's as effective an aggressor as you're going to get. Imagine the Hatton fight if Hatton had twice the chin, twice the power and masterclass boxing skills. Okay, pretty much don't imagine the Hatton fight is what I'm saying.

Duran by near shutout decision. I expect Floyd to be extremely defensive in this one but quickly realise that he is unable to get any consistant offense in whatsoever without taking more damage than he is willing to.

I imagine the fight being like the Castillo fight except Duran's punches would be much more effective. A 10th round stoppage... Duran stated that he would throw at Floyd's arm and body to nullify the shoulder tuck.

One thing's for sure: Mayweather had better book himself up in advance for a kidney transplant.

Also, why 147 rather than 135? (Not that I'm expecting a rational answer from someone like you.)

problem is if Floyd is quicker, he would be landing a counter left hook when Roberto is throwing that punch.

If I had to pick one fighter to beat Mayweather it would be Duran, not that there aren't many others that could do the job, but I doubt anyone would be able to absolutely fist-**** Floyd Jr. like Roberto would. Duran at his best was a non-stop come forward pressure fighter with skills, smarts and physical assets on par with or exceeding Mayweather's. The style to beat Mayweather is Duran's style and Duran may very well be the best fighter ever to fight that particular style. Mayweather wouldn't be able to do anything to keep Duran from coming forward, he would have nothing in his arsenal to deter him for half a second. Mayweather's habit of laying on the ropes and his low punch output at 147 would also play into Duran's hands. Duran takes every round, dominantly, and stops Mayweather in the 9th round.

I think that's being kind to Mayweather. This isn't a particularly bad stylistic match-up for him; if I had to pick a Welterweight to absolutely do a job on him, it would be someone like Hearns or SRR. It's that Duran is so far out of Mayweather's league in pretty much every respect that makes this a no-brainer.

It's strange that imo Mayweather is overrated in the world of boxing, but underrated on this forum. Me and Fleaman discussed this one briefly not too long ago and i said that while Floyd is genuinely varied and multi-dimensional i just think that Duran could be simply too dynamic in his attack. Not to mention that Duran is just one of the best fighters that ever breathed. It's not nostalgic to believe that truth, it would be ****ing amazing to have a current fighter like him, but it's silly to think there is just to avoid the 'nostalgia' of the classic forum. That's what people in the general don't get. We're not nostalgic here, we're straight up level headed.

Duran for me, i don't see Mayweather using that generalship to vary up the stepping round and countering with authority enough to take the win. If he starts to move excessively he'll just get punched excessively eventually, contrary to what people may think. Mayweather is a great fighter though and there's consistent evidence of me stating that in the classic forum.

I think it's a combination of the two. Duran better than Mayweather at pretty much everything (despite their intensely different ways of fighting), and he also has the stylistic advantage. That's why I predict this fight would be a massacre.
