Duran of the Hagler fight vs Vito of the first Hagler fight. We all have heard Duran pushed Hagler and was even winning on the score cards after 12 rounds. Vito is I believe a terribly underrated fighter. He was not of the same caliber as Hagler, but he showed incredible toughness, stamina and skill in the first Hagler bout. Hagler got better and was arguably at his peak when he faced Duran. Duran was way above his best weight as well, but he nearly beat Marvin on points. But..Vito never took a round off and was constant, he also had the stamina to go 15 . I really don't know how this fight would have worked out. Anyone have any opinions?
I like Duran, Vito was tough but didn't hit hard enough to really hurt Duran, and Duran had better skills. I like Duran by UD, a late round stoppage is also possible because Vito had tissue paper for skin.
I'll take Vito at his best over Duran at Middleweight. Really good fight with Vito coming on strong in the second half.
Vito puts the pressure on Duran, makes him uncomfortable, and wins because Duran can't keep the pace at 160.
Vito draw or not gave Hagler hell in 1st fight and his mauling style would be too strong for Duran in MW fight. Would be a bloody gore fest and Vito wins a close points decision.
Another vote for Vito. He's not going anywhere and the guy sure was effective. Decision bout all the way & how many guys outwork Vito?
Great comments here. I originally picked Duran but some of the posts here really got me thinking differently. Vito by decision.
