Whitaker would have to make this an ugly fight. His Southpaw stance, unorthodox moves and quickness being his ticket. It might work for him to go the distance. For Pea to win he has let his hands go..remember Robert is slick as hell defensively.
That is where the problems start. Duran had quicker hands than most punches or sluggers. He could match Whitaker's speed all day. He could counterpunch as well.
Pernell gives him trouble but Duran scores a knockdown or two on his way to a UD.

 

They certainly would have saw him throwing more, landing more and avoiding a helluva lot - in almost all of his fights.

Perhaps the fix was in and things were certainly fishy.
