Duran was a flat out jerk

I mean this thread is more personal about Roberto. My posts are about his ranking in the ATG list and how his resume does not match the ranking of top 10 ATG. Very different.

 

Durán once said in an interview that he wanted to show off his power to someone one time. So he “ claimed” that he punched a pony in the head and knocked it down. Weather or not this is true, for someone to even boast such a cruel thing is despicable.... so yes. He was @ss hole. Nevertheless he was paid to fight. Not for his social behavior....

 

He's always been one of my favorite classic fighters (and my dad's too) but I agree with this.

 

I have him as top 10 p4p all time. But I never really cared for the guy. There’s a distinct difference between the usual smack talk among competitors and being outright nasty and unprofessional.. Durán was the latter of the two...

 

Duran seemed to have a split personality. He was cool as long as you weren't signed to fight him. Then he was an animal. Otherwise Duran seem pretty chill. Even to Ray between fights.

Who would've thought in an industry about hurting another man that one of the most vicious fighters who grew up in the slums would say nasty things about people?

Imagine if this guy trained boxers they'd all end up Mr Rogers clones and every fight would be an insomnia cure like Wlad vs Fury minus the punches.
