Just been watching some of his fights and I think his head movement was very good, his feet weren't particularly slow, and the way he bounced made it really awkward to hit him.

    Opinions?

He's always been regarded as having a solid defence.

it was very good.. it set up his counterpunching opportunities, kind of like how tyson would slip a punch and counter.

Its easy to underrate someones defense when they have a come forward style, and has no fear of punches coming at him. But you're right, if you watch Duran enough, you'll see him slipping many punches, and taking a lot off of other punches.

Not much about Duran is underrated. Most people overrate him. His wins against ATG fighters is lacking for such a high ATG ranking he is given by many.

He was a very well rounded fighter and could outbox a boxer or outbrawl a brawler, but people talk about the end results in which usually his power and aggression came into play. He was a combination of maidana and bradley but on a much higher level. Technically and defensively he was very underrated.

Maybe on here but in the classic section there is a 24/7 Duran ****fest going on... Duran did have very good defense but they dont half let you know it in the classic.... as much as the classic think they know it all, the general is full of dumb shits that know **** all so it depends on which section or person you ask.

He boxed with and even outboxed a prime ray leonard at times, so obviously he had to be technically sound.

He's probably better than anyone in boxing history at seamlessly mixing his offense and defense.

Ray did not move in that first fight. Ray wanted to brawl. Then Ray boxes in the second fight and outclasses him.

The best defensive performance I've seen from Duran was the third Dejesus fight. Dejesus could hardly land anything on him.

Do not comment on what you don't know about. Duran was a great before moving up to welter, the fights he fought afterwards (when he was past his prime and small) are a big bonus. And Duran's longevity is trully impressing and worthy in itself of a high score.

Underrated by who?? Duran's defense was TREMENDOUS. He could rock and roll in the pocket as well as ANY fighter who ever lived. This guy didn't even try to be defensive. If he had he would have been regarded as one of the best defenders of all time.
