Somebody was arguing that Mayweather is better than Duran based on the fact that when Duran went outside his best weight, he began to accumulate losses.

I'm not arguing who would have won between the two or who's better overall, I'm just asking how Mayweather would have done against similar opposition. I named 4 fighters.

And yeah, I know I make a lot of Mayweather threads, but they accumulate hits.....

I'll start this by posting the result of the fights when Duran fought them...

    Duran vs Leonard WD, LTKO
    Duran vs Hearns LKO
    Duran vs Hagler LD
    Duran vs Barkley WD

How would Floyd perform against similar opposition?

I don't want to say any names because the poster is probably new to boxing or young, so those kind of mistakes are gonna be made.

I'm just trying to point out that while it's possible that Mayweather is better than Duran, it isn't because of some of his losses outside of his best weight.

It's just that Duran fought the best and sometimes fought people he had no business being in the ring with, but the fact is he CHALLENGED himself by fighting the BEST.

Clearly there's only one way to settle this.

Both need to come out of retirement and prove who is EL MAS MACHO :ibutt

Floyd beats them, and he'd have a shot against Leonard and Hearns at 147.

First of all,Mayweather loses to all of them.Second,in almost 70 fights at lightweight and below,Duran lost one decision in a non-title bout against all-time great Esteban DeJesus, which he subsequently avenged with 2 knockouts.Third,Duran skipped a juniorwelter title fight completely and moved up to welter, where he fought several times.Duran beat Monroe Brooks,Carlos Palomino and Sugar Ray Leonard, among others, at welterweight, before quitting against Leonard.Hung over,bloated,out-of -shape Duran wasn't ever in serious trouble against Leonard in the 2nd fight, only quitting because he was embarrassed. That was the end of Duran's prime,as he had 76 fights at that point. So,upon moving up the same number of divisions as Mayweather,Duran fought the top fighters and beat all of them, including a few legends. He moved up 12 pounds from his prime weight and only lost his second fight against a true legend. He didn't start regularly getting beat until he moved up yet again fighting 19 pounds above his natural weight, and, quite frankly very much past his prime.Mayweather was an excellent boxer, but Duran would have destoyed him.

Both Benitez and DeJesus beat Mayweather.Leonard and Hearns destroy PBF.Laing was, simply put,a fluke.Duran beats him 99 out of 100.Mayweather destroys Laing.

Duran's loss against DeJesus was at lightweight, which was Duran's best weight.

The only one Mayweather might beat is Ray Leonard and that would have to be at 147 pounds. The other guys are too big for Floyd. Theres a slight chance he might slip by Hearns but I doubt he could score enough points without getting himself KO'ed. Lets face it Chico and Oscar are the only 2 fighters (worth a damn) that Mayweather ever fought that were taller then him by a sgnificant amount.

    Leonard MD 15
    Hearns UD 15
    Hagler TKO 10
    Barkley UD 12

Floyd has no shot against hearns, hearns is the worst fighter floyd could face at 147 or below.
