Conor always starts fast, that's his game and let's be honest Dustin had a couple of scary moments, Conor landed a decent left hand and nearly got the guillotine... to be fair Conor also landed a couple of kicks off his back and landed a few elbows also off his back but Dustin didn't look in any real trouble. But the fact is Dustin wasn't just getting through the first round, he ended up dominating it and Conor was getting smashed with elbows and punches on the ground and was starting to take a beating. By the end of all the elbow smashing Conor had that look on his face again, that look that tells us all he wasn't going to be in the fight much longer. Dustin is normally a slow starter and Conor a fast starter, but after 4 and a half minutes of the first round that was only going one way and Conor knew it. Conor was actually lucky in a strange way, he will hide behind the ankle break, that's all that's being talked about on social media right now, instead of the fact Dustin was putting a beating on him. Conor embarrassed himself worse than usual with his post fight interview, screaming about Dustins wife being in his DMs.. the man is a moron and sounds like a 13 year old with an attitude problem. The fact Conor had the nerve to claim he was "boxing dustins head off" is beyond comical, it's outright delusional. Dana White has already said in the post fight presser "a fight can't end that way" and has said there will be a 4th fight at some point. The UFC have to stop this constant and relentless backing and backside kissing, sure McGregor makes money but the UFC will without any doubt damage their own reputation if they continue to give Conor chance after chance after chance without genuine justification. Fun fact, Conor has one win since 2016, I'm sure he won't be back for a while, so it will be one win in 6 years and the UFC are still intent on pushing him. It's getting embarrassing, Conor isn't the Conor of 6-7 years ago, nowhere near, his lifestyle has ruined him, the money has ruined him and the UFC and Dana White need a reality check, McGregor is finished at top level. The sooner everybody, including Conor accept he isn't top level any longer the better.
What? How was that era overrated when the sport has always been moving on? It´s constantly evolving. Boxing fans always give MMA guys **** for their bad boxing. In recent years MMA guys got a lot better in boxing and suddenly calf kicks are a major player. Every couple of years there is a major focus on a new, highly effective technique.
McGregor and Ferguson should fight each other next.Tony has lost 3 in a row Conor has lost 3 of his last 4 but neither guy is a contender anymore.Dustin Poitier is a future champion
Hard to dislike Dustin. Even after the victory he kept his cool and came across classy saying you don’t talk about killing people and hopes Conor gets gone sage to his family. Hope he wins the belt.
Dude is an even bigger draw than Floyd was. His numbers are insane. Conor has had 9 PPV headliners, and only 1 drew less than 1m in buys.
When Conor came out with multiple spinning kicks early I knew he would be gassing quick and Poirier was really putting a beating on him in the 2nd half of rd 1. Conor was done after that first rd anyway and the broken leg just gives him an excuse now to stay relevant at the top 5 of the division. It's really annoying because after rd 1 99% Poirier stops Conor probably in the next rd now just watch the ufc give Conor ANOTHER undeserved 155 title shot if Poirier beats Charles Oliviera. Conor really has hardly done ANYTHING above 145. Sick of it.
