I read the sparring in Mikes gym they go to war .Check this out for some quality sparring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYhUC2uQR7I
Some gyms go to war in sparring .In Thailand though I read alot of gyms go easy but Mike gym looks like one of the hardest sparring sessions i've seen .
Mikes is known for tough sparring... Probably one of the toughest. Thailand is much more relaxed because fighters fight very often and can't afford to get hurt.. often this means the fights themselves are sometimes the same way, the first two rounds (of 5) in Muay Thai are always very relaxed and scored 10-10 by custom.. also lots of thais have agreements not to throw leg kicks so they can fight again the next weekend or after..
Ar 2.22 it looks a bit too hard on the boy but he took it well .They are all in good shape the kid is probably a fighter .I read it's one of the best kickboxing gms in Holland and the world .
I just got an email back today . I'll copy and paste for the forum .1 month would probably cost me the same as Thailand . From my experiences In Thailand & Holland is that Yes Thai camps spar light if at all, that's not to say that when your doing pad-work with a trainer in the ring he won't nail you if your making mistakes because he will(they do go a little easier on beginning farang though) their pad-work is very intense and IMO just as good as sparring on many levels. as far as Holland as I recall the sparring was harder however it was by no means a war and if someone got carried away you got thrown out of the gym for the day so if you are only there for a limited time its not worth it. the best way I can describe the sparring in Holland is there "give and take" where by you will defend while your partner works offence sometimes it doesn't work out quite like that but for the most part that's the unwritten rule.
