Duva says she'll duck the next Stevenson-Kovalev purse bid too

Quit asking stupid question, money is an essential aspect of this sport. It can make or break a fight stupid.

I guess you're one of this fans that believe these boxers are in the sport for legacy reasons.:roll:

 

I prefer Kovalev over Adonis every day of the week and then some. I think he'd beat Adonis and would be surprised if the contrary happened. However...

While I'm not naive to the business aspects of boxing, most fans are. And those who are and have been vocal pro-Kovalev and anti-Adonis over the past two years have probably shoved their foot down their own throat by now.

Wrong on many levels: they can go to purse bids and they can try to WIN the purse bid so the fight is on HBO.

If HBO doesn't back the bid (i.e. pony up the money to beat Haymon's bid), then they had their chance and failed to do what is necessary to enforce their exclusivity clause in their contract.

And as has been pointed out many times, HBO's contract is for first refusal -- they have often passed on televising fights with guys they have under 'exclusive contract' when they don't like the matchup ... ironically, always mandatory defenses (which go to purse bids).

So HBO should either go all-out to win the bid or step aside and let the fight be made. If they don't want to pay fair market value for it (which is decided when you have an open bid), then they shouldn't stand in the way of it.

Here's what's really going on: Duva/Main Events sold it's soul to HBO because it was dead in the water with no TV deal. HBO decided to pass on bidding because it can get Kova to fight nobodies for peanuts rather than pay a huge price for a big fight ... and Duva, rather than standing up for the fighter is looking out for herself and Main Events by bending over for HBO.

So Kova is being told he can't get a career-high payday, can't take the biggest opportunity of his career ... and instead will probably get $300K or something like that to fight another nobody instead.

This is all on Duva/HBO.

These numbers are accurate... I can't post links but if you just took the time to google "Kovalev Pascal Purse" you could find this out without calling another man a liar.

 

Same thing happened with this guy when he got called out on mixing up PPV buys and views... Just vanished and went to troll a different Kovalev/Stevenson thread.

 

Kovalev only made $500k vs Hopkins and after taxes & team, only banked $125k.

That wasn't the fight you called him a liar on... nobody disputed the numbers from the Hopkins fight. We were talking about Kovalev/Pascal and you know that...
