Nope, discovered boxing too late and didn't have the talent to successfully play catch up. Played u.s. football and wrestled.
Early 30's for me. My join date for ESB is, funnily enough, a good proxy for when I really started paying attention to the sport (and I'm sure many of my earlier posts reflected that clearly lol).
Oh well .. it's embarrassing Adonis even more. I hope the whole boxing world knows what kind of ***** he is. Paper champ.
Ah, thought so. I'm 31 as of last October. My join date is actually several years after getting diehard into the sport (the days when little guys reigned supreme on HBO: Tapia, Naz, Morales, MAB...) and I'd been a regular commenter on ESB main page articles for a couple of years before registering on the forum. I also boxed off and on since childhood but never stuck with it long enough to compete in anything more than light sparring, until the last couple of years. I still tell myself that - while any talent coaches said they saw when I was a kid has all but evaporated by now - I can still mount a run and do something in the pros, if only a regional belt, on sheer willpower and dedication. :conf Anyway, by now I have been in a ring for hard spars and 'debuted' in a smoker exhibition last fall (did shitty, had the flu) ...so as someone who does have experience, albeit not professional (yet) standing in the ring trading punches and both drawing and oozing blood...allow me to back up your original statement (as if any such qualifying experience were needed, like it somehow isn't plain for all to see): if Stevenson avoids Kovalev he is outright scared of him. :good
al gaymon turns all fights into ***** slapping constests. no wonder the cowards are gravitating towards him.
Cheers, and best of luck in the future IB, in the ring and out- I've picked up a lot from your posts over the years :good:!: For as dysfunctional as the forum may get, there's a lot of genuinely good info to be picked up here for fans like myself who come in to the sport late, or who otherwise wouldn't have much access to the more seasoned, hardcore fans out there.
the fans should sue the duvas for force feeding the public adamek. dude has received more gifts than anyone in boxing. it's a shame.
is that what you call what he was doing in the ring with the gifts he got over chambers and cunningham? smh. sad.
If it goes to a Quebec court, a verbal agreement is considered an agreement, meaning an agreement is an agreement, signed or not. If she has an email to prove it, it is even better for them then! It really looks bad for GYM, for his reputation. It might be harder for other GYM boxers to do business with HBO after that. Plus Stevenson basically gave his promotionnal right to Haymon while GYM was doing it for him before. Stevenson really is not doing a favor to anybody except for himself. A scum is a scum.
LOL shameful duck by Adonis and his team. Adonis is downright scared of Kovalev and this is absolute proof.
noob_sayer , learned what a converted orthodox yet? stop inserting yourself into discussions you know nothing about:hi:
It's the same in the U.S as well. Where this gets shakey though is that Duva and Michael are not the ones fighting eachother. It's hard to have an enforceable agreement for a fight between Stevenson and Kovalev without both fighters agreeing to the fight. I'm not sure an e-mail between Duva and Michael is the same as the fighters themselves agreeing. Furthermore, for an agreement such as a fight, several details need to be agreed upon in order to constitute a contract. I'd imagine the purse, the site, and the date would be some of the details that would have needed to be agreed upon. I don't believe any of that was finalized. If Duva pursues legal action, it would seem she would fighting an uphill battle. I guess we'll have to see how this plays out.
