Instead of taking on spinks for his 49 th fight, Holmes choosers Dwight muhammad Qawi. This is the version of Qawi who took a young holyfield to a split decision loss. Could the non stop aggressive Qawi nullify the work of the aging Holmes?. Or was it a case of style s with Larry against spinks, and Holmes reaches the magical 49-0?

Larry would find a home for his right uppercut again and again ,this would be a beat down imo.

Qawi no chance. Spinks, a big massive punching 175'er had to fight quite cautiously.

I get the impression that ol Larry may have been better off taking on Dwight, rather than spinks. Spinks style affected Holmes imo and he never really figured it out.

No, he's far too short and t-rex. Even the poor version of Holmes that fought Spinks would have breezed past Qawi. Qawi was a fantastic 175 tho.

Agree with all the above. No need to elaborate.

Camden Buzzsaw was relentless fighter who came forward with a superb
defense and counter punching . However Holmes natural advantages height
and weight is something that Qwai can't overcome.
Holmes would stick his jab his face in Qwai face all night in a shutout similar
to Holmes vs Cobb just Qwai wouldn't take as many right hands as Tex did.

Styles had nothing to do with it..Holmes took the first fight on Dr.s ill advice and why he threw really no meaninful right hands...the second fight Holmes won! That being said...Holmes had more difficulties with tall long jabbers or jabbers...he didnt look as good punching mid to upper range.....

in short he does have a harder time with Qawi because of pressure bc hes more in control of Spinks IF he had let more go.....4 out of 5 times he could out point spinks easy...with Qawi? Well he has to keep him off him at that work rate ( Frazier like) style...Spinks fought in spurts.i would have liked to see a third fight to prove my point.

No. Dwight couldn't carry above 195 effectively. He would be outmuscled and overpowered. He'd probably last into the late rounds though because of his excellent defense.
