Two greats or at least Very Goods, whose careers overlapped, yet they did not meet in the ring. Both upstaged by Michael Spinks, and neither a factor in the division afterwards. What would have happened had they met prime for prime, back in the day? I think Qawi outworks him, but it would be tough going. What do you guys think?
Braxton by decision. Eddie didn't throw a lot of punches and his best weapon was the straight right hand - a punch that rarely landed on Braxton. Dwight would outwork Eddie for a UD. I am calling him "Braxton" because his absolute prime was in 1981-1982 when he still went by that moniker.
Your also under playing EM body punches- he could go to the body very well when he wanted to . I think EM beats Braxton as he was very talented and hit hard enough to get respect .
I'd lean toward Eddie but either could win. I think he's got the power to earn Braxtons respect as Michael did.
Eddie in a close but competitive fight. Dwight would make his presence felt, but Eddie would be a little bit ahead.
Qawi all day for mine. Eddie wasnt that fond of durable, physically strong, balding pressure fighters with big motors and Qawi was a better fighter than Scott ever was. Eddie lost to Bennie Briscoe in a pretty big upset at middleweight when Bennie was an old man. I know Eddie did beat Jerry " the Bull " Martin and Marvin Johnson but both of those guys had a bad weaknesses which suited Eddie. The Bull couldnt punch and Johnson was chinny. Eddie had a lot of James Toney in him. Unfortunately the best and worse of him. Qawi was the ultimate pressure fighter with a wicked defense and this would enable him to counter Eddie hard counters and out work him by dec.
