qwai dosn't beat toney... qwai is that come forward bob and weave slug style that toney loved to fight ...

ask jirov how good qwai would do

You act like Toney destroyed Jirov, who is no where near the level of Qawi.
    Qawi any day for me.

Jirov is not a patch on Qawi. Qawi is probably Toney's defensive equal, hits harder if anything, is stronger and has a much better workrate. He is also the naturally bigger guy. I'd feel very comfortable putting some decent money on Qawi. Qawi will outwork him at the very least IMO.

Well yes and no. Spinks beat him but he's one of the greatest 3 175's in history IMO and losing well is hardly a bad thing. Qawi was well aged and above his best weight when losing to Holyfield too. These versions of Spinks and Holy would have whupped Toney.

the truth of the matter is ...is toney gonna stand up right and wait for qwai to dive in with his hooks like saad did?..no ... he isn't going to be there to be hit ..

the fact of the matter is ..toney went from 160-200 + and was still successful .. qwai not so much ... i'm not saying toney would wipe the floor with qwai and hell qwai might spark toney ...i just believe it'd be alot harder then you'd think

Toney is sure not wiping the floor with him, he beat up much more dangerous fighters. Tho Toney went to heavy and fought effectively Qawi is still actually the more natural 175. IMO Toney is a bit of a lard arse, tho a fantastic fighter. He could have done so much more.

I'm not saying it's going to be easy either way. Of course Toney is far different stylistically to Saad, but Qawi has so much more than was needed vs Saad as well. For instance i get the feeling you think he is some sort of chug forward dive in fighter, but the man is actually a fantastic counterpuncher too, rolling with right hands brilliantly then launching his own counter right.

I am a huge fan of Qawi, i really think he was a fantastic fighter. Certainly no hater of Toney either.

yeah i watched the espn classics with qwai vs saad .. amazing what qwai did to him at just like 15-1 or 2 or whatever his record was ...he just kept rolling and lungeing till he broke saads nose .... dude was a beast .. a total tank

i guess that's what made the spinks fight so boring .. two counter punchers in their own rights .. you get too people that are better off when the opponet presses the fight ..your gonna get a qwai vs spinks type of fight

Actually Eddie Futch conjured up his usual incredible strategy for Spinks when he faced Saad. Spinks with his power and enormous right hand didn't mind some serious action at 175 (Lopez etc) but Futch devised a super set of tactics including a major shelving of Spinks biggest weapon, his vaunted right hand. The reason being Qawi rolled with and countered a right hand like few ever have. Made for a bit of a tame fight but it sure was fantastic thinking and perfect execution.

Toney had plenty of problems with much lesser fighters and smaller men than Qawi. Obviously they all have their off nights but i still like Qawi no matter how good a Toney shows up.

............Qawi by decision. Toney's best weapon was his counter right; this counter right prompted Jones to fight him the way he did in '94, which was to not lead with the jab, because Toney would counter it over the top with the right. It was his bread and butter.

Now think about Qawi's best weapon, o perhaps better put, his best skill; the ability to roll under the counter right and counter it beautifully. This, of course, was why Spinks fought him the way he did, practically refusing to throw the right at all in their 15-rounds.

Qawi negates Toney's best weapon here and outworks him (and we all know the way to beat Toney is to get in his chest and work, which is exactly what Qawi's style was). Toney is the better fighter overall, but Qawi's style is a bad one for him.

it's dangerous to compair the jones fight with what qwai might do ..qwai and jones were two different animals...and you'd have to add in toneys excessive body work ... if its a toe to toe deal with countering i see toney landing lots of body shots

in an odd way ..i see this one going just like the mccalum fights ... only it'd go 2 for qwai and at least 1 for toney if not a draw ...but extreamly hard hard HARD tough fights to score ..with the body work and the countering

P4P maybe, but at 175 i think Qawi is deffo the better man.
