Watching Holyfield - Qawi 1 and what a ****ing WAR! Qawi is brutalizing Holyfield physically and psychologically, he constantly stalks him down making him hop around all over the ring, sapping Holyfield's stamina, to add on to that he's crazy good at slipping and ducking punches, he literally just ducked 15 Holyfield punches in a row then proceeds to taunt him before brutalizing him. This guy is only 5'5 but has an extremely thick and stocky build, he actually weighed 3 pounds more than the 6'2 Holyfield at 189 to Holyfield's 186. Fighting at 5'5 he makes himself even more harder to hit by bending at the waist and tucking his chin in, great head movement too. He must have been a nightmare for opponents back in the 80's. Extremely underrated fighter who would have been THE greatest Cruiserweight of all time had he started earlier(he started boxing at 25 after getting out of prison).

Not sure that I agree, that the Camden Buzzsaw is underrated or under appreciated...He is generally recognized as one of the top 2-3 Cruisers. Also, even though he was/is one of my favorites....I don't think I would describe Holy-Qawi I as Qawi brutalizing Holy....but it was a very good fight!

He did brutalize Holy...Evander didnt really know what to do with this guy who he could not keep off of him...But it did make for a great fight and Qawi is one of the best Cruisers of all time without a doubt!

Yeah I don't know if I'd call him underrated; anyone who knew about Qawi knew his qualities as a fighter. He's generally very highly rated, if a bit neglected on the boards.

Yeah, top fighter. Hagler avoided him like the plague, of course.

    the Modern Era Sam Langford.

Qawi is one of the greatest Little Big men he would give anyone a fight from MW to HW (bar the giant S-HWs), got to be in the the Top 10 or better little big men. Possibly even between him and Langford.

Given his stature its amazing how he turned deficits on paper into advantages in practice baring his Gumsheild as he came forward, he would outjab bigger taller opponents on the way in, and once inside he was still elusive as he would Dip-Slip-an-Rip "Buzzsaw" was a very appropriate moniker for him...didnt like Movers much...but stand and trade with him...or attempt to...and he would leave you a pile of chippings...Qwai vs Jerry the Bull Martin a perfect illustration
he always made me think of a Pitbull chewing up a bigger more stylish more snooty Afghan Hound..one of the very best little men ever.

Qawi was a beast without doubt one of the toughest guys ever to step in the ring. What other guy who stood 5'6 could go toe to toe with men the size of the guys he used to fight and destroy. Qawi is one of my favorite guys to watch and his first fight with Holyfield is one of my favorite fights all time.

I say underrated because his legacy today doesn't match that of the force of nature that he was in his heyday.

The Jirov who fighted James Toney will punch him down. Is more brutal.

The first time I saw Qawi, his name was Dwight Braxton way back many many moons ago, was against James Scott in prison over 30 years ago and Qawi whipped his ass like a rag doll.
Also the way he busted up that Jewish kid, Rossman?? Was brutal, what a beat down..
I also thought Qawi did enough to get the decision against Holy in 1986, but the judges ripped him off, Holy spent time in the hospital after that fight..
One of the top 10 fighters ever to come out of Jersey..
I think he learned his trade in prison, then after he got out had help from Manny Steward at the kronk in Detroit.

I was at that fight, best fight I've ever seen live.

I wouldn't describe anything he did as 'brutalizing' Holyfield -- I thought Evander won the fight, but it was close.
