Dwyer: Current Toney Would Do Better Against Wlad Than He Did Against Lebedev

i have to agree, he picks black fighters to win fights almost all the time, even though he states theres no race agenda, i dont watch his videos but i wouldnt be surprised if told ppl to put money on james toney for the upset.

 

If by "better" he means that Toney would get KO'd...then I'd have to agree.

Would Toney do better against Wlad than Lebedev? Well, considering he lost every round, the only way he can do worse is to get knocked out.

Dwyer is basically saying that Lebedev was too fast, so Toney needs a tall, immobile fighter like...Wlad (?!) so Toney can outmaneuver him.

Uh...Wlad is faster AND mobile than Sam Peter, who beat Toney.


***EDIT - I actually listened to this through the end, and I noticed that his website is something called "gamblersadvisory.com" or somesuch. If that's the case, I'm wondering if maybe I'm misinterpreting his purpose here. If he's looking at fights from a gambling profiteering perspective, then it actually makes sense that he's going to discuss big betting underdogs and position people with high upset potential and high payouts. That probably explains his constant talking up of longshots.

Wlad is a small guy and he can't puch ,so Toney definitely would do much better against him , he would probobly jab Wlad to death for 5 rounds and then KO him later,but still I go with Wlad by KO or TKO in 8.

Mormeck, for all his lack of exciting wins at HW has better overall resume btween the 2 weights. He also has more KOs at the 2 weights. While Toney obviously has the better grill, I seriously believe that if JMM can find a way to smother Wlad that he could stand until the final bell, or at least make it through the 10th as Adamek did vs Vitali.
That said, this version of JT, and for that matter, and in ALL honesty, ANY VERSION OF TONEY, is a fighter who fights off the backfoot. Wlad also fights off the back foot. He is so less likely to be slipped and countered than Ledbedev is, that I literally could not see ANY version of Toney that outboxes Wlad as well as Ibragimov, Chagaev, or Chambers did.
