Dwyer has officially lost it. "David Haye is a Bill Russell, Muhammad Ali figure."

You could've said the same thing about Ali before he beat Liston. Now I don't think that Haye is an Ali or Russell type athlete. I think he'll get jabbed to death and then stopped. However, I could be wrong and Dwyer could on the money with this one.

So what has David Haye ever done that provides evidence he could be a Bill Russell or Muhammad Ali?

This is a pointless question. No one thought Russell or Ali were going to be transcenedent athletes until they did something that no one expected. However, Haye is a tremendous athlete who can punch with both hands, is fast, and can be unpredictable.

It's not a pointless question. If you're going to say somebody, who hasn't provided an ounce of evidence for doing so, is going to be one of the greatest of all time, for **** sake you'd better have a good reason or you're showing your ass.

This conversation is pointless. Keep obsessing over one opinion that you can't even prove wrong at this point in time.

So you can't provide a single reason for supporting your opinion that Dwyer might be right, other than to say "it's a possibility." Nice work.

Didn't I already tell you that Haye is a tremendous athlete with power in both hands, speed, and who can be unpredictable? He was also a tremendous amatuer athlete, he unified the CW division, he knocked out a durable HW in John Ruiz and hurt Valuev worse than anyone else who fought him have. Haye posseses a rare skillset. Haye is not the run of the mill HW that Wlad has been pounding on for years.

:lol: Manny has 8 division titles, how many does Haye have. If he wouldve replaced Haye with Pacquiao his article would have been taken more serious by the masses.

The opinions on here are more based around peoples dislike of a fighter rather than the actual attributes or achievements of the fighter. Ali is considered the greatest due to the fortune of being a heavyweight with extremely great speed power and a mouth that spoke with rhymes, but he was also in the middle of a racial powder keg and is associated with such his status is elevated because of that. In my opinion he was one of the greatest fighters of all time and was the best in his era pre vietnam drafting ban.his fights with frazier and foreman are looked upon as great victories and they are but they still need to be looked at and taken into perspective. I wonder if rope a dope as it was coined then would be an acceptable way of fighting for a modern heavyweight? Vs frazier he quit in the end as did the other corner. I take nothing away from ali I am just looking at things from an honest eye there's too much bull**** and hype in boxing a bit of honesty is welcome.

David Haye was not born in the middle of any significance he is confident in his abilities and tells people what he feels. he has achieved a great deal as a boxer already not that he would be given the credit for unifying a division(cw) people on here seem to forget his achievements . As a heavyweight he has fought legit heavyweights and dealt with them easily but has in no way cemented a legacy at hw but he is a top heavyweight without doubt.

Its ok to have a preference as boxing fans but I like most on here see only one thing Bias and almost schoolboy like hatred/jealousy of a man fulfilling his dreams. David Haye is not muhammad Ali and he himself would not liken himself with him but he obviously draws huge amount of inspiration from him and this is seen in his demeanor and what is wrong with that exactly? I think he is exactly what heavyweight boxing needs, someone who turns up in shape, motivated and believing he can win!! How can you hate a man for that? I respect his approach to Boxing . Wladmir Klitschko is not a great fighter anyone who says so is just not being honest he has the fortune of physical stature and fitness and a good boxing ability he fights behind his frame and never takes risks. his style is not exciting it is boring and often He relies on spoiling tactics to wear his foes down. His opponents are often overmatched when you consider there peak physical condition. Haye has more than a chance of beating klitschko and for the good of boxing i hope he does.
