Dwyer: I'd take Degale over Bute, Dirrell and Kessler

Not really, you can only score the fight as the ref referees it. You can't make these moral decisions to award the rounds to another guy, surely. We enter the realms of ridiculous levels of subjectivity. I might decide that I don't like Hatton's holding and retrospectively give his fights to his opponent. That line in the sand is very dodgy.

The only way is to just score the fights as the ref sees it and based on the scoring criteria for boxing. Froch wasn't an angel either lest we forget.

Dirrell ran, held, complained, fell down on canvas, etc., no way he won. Bute is beat 168 lbs. fighter in the world today!!!

Was looking for this post earlier, couldn't find it, man was Earl overrating this cat. I knew De Gale would have issues if someone could fight that fight against him (see above), just wasn't convinced Groves was the man to implement it.

 

He still isn't necessarily wrong. Degale is getting alot of hate. I only took positives away from teh fight for both boxers. DeGale really suprised me with his chin and willingness to have a tear up.

 

Why for backing the fav? By backing the guy who's looked more impressive? The guy who most people backed? **** off.

I still think he'd beat Dirrell because he's hyped even more than DeGale.

I suppose McCall and Rahman exposed Lewis eh?:roll:

Quick question, who did Dirrell fight in his 11th pro fight? Who's to say Groves wouldn't have a good shot vs Dirrell?

 

Go back and read what I quoted. We were discussing James Degale against Dirrell. You can dance around it all you like but the facts have shown you look like a fool.

Stop trying to move the goal posts, you said DeGale would beat Dirrell currently. Not who will have the better career etc, so no, I won't just wait and see. You should have the dignity to put your hands up and say you were wrong. Imagine Dirrell's lateral movement and speed against DeGale. He'd have clowned him. Dirrells 11th fight has nothing to do with what we were discussing and neither does Lennox Lewis.

Thing is, De Gale seem to use the jab in the first round imo, and had success in that round, but Groves used more movement after that, and I felt it might of offset De Gale's jab, but that should of put the emphasis on De Gale to realize that if he wants to keep utilizing the jab he needs to cut the ring down whilst he uses it, however instead of that, he seemed to holster the jab, and get further and further away from what he should of been doing.

De Gale has two ways to be aggressive imo, he either stalks off the front foot, or he walks in your front foot door, but as I said before, problem with that, is when you walk in, it allows the other guy to rattle off a combo, then move, as your bringing the target to him, and counter punching off the front foot can be negated if you someone can feint you out to offset your timing for your counters, and has the speed to get off first then move whilst your waiting.

Both those strategies allow the other guy to be first.

 

I think it showed up Groves 'power' more than anything.
