Very good video, I didn't know much about Barker before I watched this, but I have now watched a few of his fights and I see what he is getting at. I would make Barker a 2-1 underdog but I'd buy 4-1. Either-way the if you bet him at +750 you still have leverage over the casino.

Barker is much better then advertized. My one concern would be his durability. He doesn't seem like the toughest guy and the think about these cuttie type fighters is if they get worn down the tend to get knocked out hard. But that being said it usually takes more then half the fight to do so (a la Olivier Lonche vs JuanMa). So IMO the "over" should hold.

Also Dwyer talks about blue print fights when. From a betting perspective even if Barker isn't durable enough to go the distance, he can tell gamblers things about how Martinez and how he might handle other top guys in the division such as Daniel Gaele, Hassan N'Jikam or to a lesser extent Dmitry Pirog and Felix Sturm (if he can still movement is better then he showed vs Macklin).

Last point: people should remember that Martinez used to fight 3-4x per yr. He now fights 2x a yr. Also he has to lose a lot of weight each camp and has to cut for hard for each weigh-in. At 36 years old when an in active fighter has to spend much of his camp cutting weight, he risks not being as sharp as he otherwise would be. Plus he's only fought 1 true middleweight. Barker might not have a chance but there are a few things brewing in the background that people should remember for the future, when/if he does end up fighting guys like Pirog or N'Jikam.

 

Not commenting on this particular pick of his but Dwyer likes the underdogs and gives them more credit than they should get. The 1 time he gets it right he seems like a genius for picking a guy nobody else gave a chance to. But people forget the part where he got it wrong the other 9 times out of 10.

 

2/1 underdog? You're crazy and would be losing money hand over fist. If you would take 4/1 I assume you are remorgaging for the 10/1 on offer. It's a P4P guy vs someone who hasn't fought at world level.

As for Martinez cutting loads of weight, he cuts less than almost anyone in the sport.

 

I just don’t see what, stylistically, Barker can do with Martinez. He’s not a very hard puncher, , he’s not a volume puncher, nor is he very fast-handed – he’s just a solid all-round boxer.

Saying he’s got a chance seems based on wishful thinking more than anything tangible.

Name one thing that Barker does better.

Honestly, is there even any need to watch a Dwyer vid? You can pretty much guarantee it’ll be a 15 minute analysis of why the underdog has a chance. That’s all he does. And the things he mentions, never come to reality on fight night. Anyone who doesn’t know better will think he knows his stuff, but really, he’s ****ing wrong 99% of the time. So, I don’t need to watch this vid to know he’s talking out of his ass.
