The punch was the same as Ali - Liston 2. Ali seemed to have hit Liston, who is no glass jaw, with a seemingly "nothing" shot and dropped him. Liston only made the count because Ali was pricking about and didn't go to the neutral corner right away. This is from memory, so could well be inaccurate.
Left leg must have been injured too. After all, it was stiff as a board. ****ing hell, how many times did Tyson scramble someone hitting them on the temple, yet people can watch those gifs and think Solis just fell over. As for the leg injury, anyone else here injured their knee? Did you manage to walk as well as Solis did out of the Arena? Thought not.
I once had my knee ligaments torn, it just happened boom! It was like your leg vanishes from under you, I felt no pain, it is just a lump of meat!
Whatever, it was a hugely disappointed contest. I thought Solis was doing alright and he either a) got felled by short punch from a heavy guy, or b) did his ligaments. Either way, with heavyweight title fights becoming annual events it wasn't a lot of action. Roll on Wlad v Haye, though I expect Haye to be a lot more cagey for that than he is suggesting at present.
Bit harsh to have a go at Dwyer on this. I don't remember many round here predicting Vitali KO1 Solis after a knee injury...
