The first televised Japanese card of 2018 is just a few minutes away It will be headlined by Charles Bellamy (26-3-2, 17) who faces off with a Thai foe. The bout was promoted to main event status after Ryo Akaho (31-2-2, 20) fell ill in the build up to his Japanese Bantamweight title defense against Yusuke Suzuki (9-3, 6), in what was suposed to be the first Champion Carnival bout of 2018. 1-Takahashi showing some nice skills early and looks the better man from the off, landing some eye catching body shots and a nice busy jab, Moriyama has some moments in the middle of the round but Takahashi comes back late on to clearly take the round.
2-Takahashi on the assault, he hurts his man, goes for the kill. Down goes Moriyama! He's up but Takahashi keeping the pressure on and swarming his man, Moriyama holding, soiling and smothering to survive, huge body shot from Takahashi, big right hand over the top and down goes Moriyama again! Ref waves it off! TKO2 Takahashi!
1-The Thai is pressing but when ever he gets close it's the Japanese fighter unloading shots, then getting back on the move, a sweeping left from the Thai connects but he takes a 1-2 in return, lovely uppercutt from Tamayama. The Thai tries to steal the round late. The visitor is a limited guy but looks very physcially strong and tough
2-The Thai seemed buzzed at the end of round 1 and isn't pressing as much to begin round 2, still a little bit of pressure but not as much as the previous round. The pace dropping has suited Tamayama who is picking him off with the jab. Thai now looking to land single big shots but eats a big right hand, a short right from the Thai connects and he takes the local with a couple more, left hook from Tamayama conencts clean. Body shots from Tamayama seem to be the focus now and he is landing some beautiful single shots there.
3-Big head shot followed by a solid body shot from Tamayama, the Thai is still pressing but eats a big right hand and appears to be taking more shots as the rounds go on. One of the Thai's wild swings connects and Tamayama is shaken, the Thai feels it and ups the pace, he seems to rock him again but takes a body shot, another body shot,
4-Big body shot from Tamayama about 30 seconds in, this Thai is a tough guy but he's now wearing some pain on his face and some of the aggression is being taken away round by round, a left hook from the Thai lands but Tamayama rides it well. We're now seeing Tamayama push the Thai back and it's clear the fight is slowly being beaten out of the visitor, a clean right from Tamayama, a body shot from the local, a flurry from the Thai but nothing lands too clean, a flurry back from Tamayama and he connects with a fair bit - but nothing too damaging
5-A good right from the Thai early but Takayama takes it well, the Japanese fighter now looking for openings, another good right from the visitor, now one back from the local, the Thai with another good right bu no follow up, big body shot from Tamayama, now one up stairs, the Thai is rocked! Tamayama going for the finish, another big right from Tamayama and a hard body shot! The Thai is creaking as we get to the bell, but he lands a a shot just after it
6-Big body shots from Tamayama, he's looking for a stoppage but the Thai is a tough lump with some fight still left in him. Nice flurry from the Thai but he's got little left in the tank, a combination to the body from Tamayama, and another couple of shots to the Thai's midsection, and another, the visitor is feeling these, another, he's now trying to fire back but his form is going. 7-The Thai is trying to fight off Tamayama with arm shots and it's not working, Tamayama continues pressing and is switching between head and body at will, the Thai is on theropes and eats a huge body shot, pops his head up and takes on up top. Credit to him he's not giving in but Tamayama is relentless, big head shot from the Thai and he finally forces Tamayama to back off, body shot from Tamayama, big head shot from Tamayama and the Thai retreats once more. Tamayama going for the kill with a huge combination and the Thai is slugging it out with him! Some great action to end the round!
8-The Thai isn't going down without a fight and is holding center ring as they unload, big body shots from Tamayama slows the Thai right down, Tamayama struggling to get in a clean shot but when he does he unloads and they treade with the Thai fighting from the corner, head shots from the Thai, Tamayama still looking for a finish but only has 40 seconds to get it now, a huge shot snaps back the Thai's head, Tamayama is going for it. There's the clacker. He's still hunting a finish but can't get it. Damn the Thai earned his money here! Probably didn't win a round but a tough mo fo
1-The Thai is on the front foot early but Matsunaga looking relaxed whilst trying to spot openings, the Thai using good defensive movement to make Matsunaga miss but not quite staying in range to counter, Matsunaga looking pretty natural in there and lands a nice head shot late.
