Erik Israyelyan vs. Richard Bernáth, 4 rounds @ lightweight

 

Israyelyan is a local lad (born in Armenia, and represented them in the amateurs, but now a resident of Montreal) making his pro debut tonight.

2022 IBA World Youth Championships gold medalist.

Bernáth is a 23 year old Hungarian with an 0-1 record (losing his own debut last month, on points)

 

Bernáth down inside a minute from a quick body shot.

Down again forty seconds later from the same, and out!

 

Nice looking prospect tbh.

 

Moreno Fendero vs. Mykola Vovk, 8 rounds @ super middleweight

 

Minor step up in class for Moreno "The Bull of Bangui"** / "The Soldier" Fendero.

** BoxRec incorrectly lists the muscular southpaw's birthplace as Besançon in France. That's where he grew up, but he was born in the Central African Republic. He's now 9-0 with seven kayos.

34 year old Vovk is a Ukrainian-Romanian-German veteran with a 15-6 record. Only been stopped twice.

 

Absolute slingshot of a left hand on the nose to score the first knockdown.

The second knockdown and stoppage were relatively anticlimactic, but Vovk was getting demolished. He complains of a rabbit punch and the ref just turns his back on him, not even dignifying it with a response.

 

Alexandre Bigras Gaumont vs. Mathis Lourenço, 8 rounds @ middleweight

 

Lourenço was last in action ten months ago, losing an eight round UD to Viktor Yoka. He's been stopped just once, by Milan Prat.

Gaumont is a 3x national amateur champion. I don't see anything too special in him so far in the pros, however.

 

Matt Casavant has it 30-27 for Gaumont.

Boring fight.
