"Haye did nothing for me to change my views on him," Calzaghe told Setanta Sports. "It wasn't his performance that counted it was Enzo's performance. He was only as good as Enzo made him look. He answered no questions to me. He only threw four punches himself a round. Four whole punches.Lets be honest about it. This hot property: bull****. I think the same of him as I did before. If Enzo went 12 rounds with the guy he would have destroyed him.

"He didnt get a chance to show it because he did what he did wrong. You can't judge what Haye is all about from that fight. It took him five big straight rights to deck Enzo. Now you think he is going to be fighting 17 stone guys. It will take a lot more to put them down. If that went 12 rounds as Maccarinelli can fight, as he does all the time, that prestigious greatest thing since sliced bread wouldn't be around today. He won fair and square, but lets not get carried away because Enzo underperformed."

Interesting perspective from Papa Calzaghe. Thoughts?

Interesting is one word for it.

5 punches in the first round.. a feeler round. As soon as he found his range against Enzo he closed the fight. If that's not complete ownage i don't know what is

I'm not a big Haye fan, but I think Calzaghe is way off base here. I remember Emmanuel Nwodo saying that the only reason Ding beat him was because he broke his eye socket(I guess being knocked unconscious had nothing to do with it). This statement by Enzo is almost as ridiculous. Macca really wasn't doing much himself, and he looked real timid after getting hit with that first big right hand. I don't see Macca ever making it to the final bell against Haye.

both fighters didnt throw many punches so e.calzaghe cant criticise haye for a feeler round when enzo did te same. i agree, he did find his range and closed the show in the 2nd.its one thing saying he wouldnt last 12 rounds with macca, but in reality macca couldnt last 2 rounds with haye, am i not right?

Wow...sour grapes anyone. Reg just like you said man if that wasn't total domination I don't know what is. It seemed as if Enzo was extremely hesitatant you could see he was thinking to much and reacting less. The fact that Enzo came in the fight looking like a canned tuna feed bear cub and Haye looked like he trained along side Rocky Balboa when he was preparing for Ivan Drago. :smoke

We've been talking about this in the British Forum for a couple days.

The general concensus, after much debate and reasoned intellectual discussion was - Enzo's a dick.

Enzo Calzaghe should be respected as a trainer, but he wouldnt make a very good boxing pundit !

Haye is a knockout artist, he's always looking for that big punch not to win on points.

Did he watch the fight? To be KO'd in 2 rounds says two things.

    1) Haye is a pretty good heavy hitter.
    2) Macc isn't as good as he was hyped up to be/you didn't train him properly.

Saying that if the fight went 12 Mac would have won is like saying 'if your grandma had balls and no tits she would be your grandpa.' you'll never know cuz it didn't happen.

So... if Maccarilnelli wasn't knocked out... and had gone more than two rounds... in fact twelve rounds... he would have 100% won the fight? Alright....

Sonny Liston is one lucky son of a ***** that he was able to get Patterson out early like he did both times. Otherwise if it went the distance he'd have been ****ed.

Mike Tyson should thank his lucky stars he didn't have to go 3 rounds with Berbick, or there would've been biiiiig trouble!
