I agree in some ways, i think khan is very sloppy at times and very hittable but he did very well against maidana too, if a fighter cant pressure khan and wear him down a bit khan will probably dominate and win. Khan really felt the pace against maidana and as a result his conditioning coach has been let go

He got hit FAR too much against maidana though we will see how much khan really improves over the next few years. Its not like hes reached the limit of his potential yet.

Depends how you look at it, he's for sure a different fighter but not a worse fighter. Of course he isnt the same fighter that used to throw those fast combinations but now he uses his vast ring intelligence to get through fights bearing in mind he still conserves his energy very well.

This 'new' style of his saw him shut down 2 of the greatest boxers in this era and the 2nd round of the mosley only worked in floyd favour because it was that moment where he realised mosleys gameplan which allowed him to adapt to that situation, also it proved that floyd chin is solid.

Im a big fan of khan but he wont beat floyd now, next year or even the year after.

usman your opinion would have been somewhat worth something if you didn't start watching boxing last year.

Exposed?!! I don't think so bc we already know Khan limitations even though he is a very good fighter. Btw who wouldn't be "exposed" by a skilled puncher??

I find it very strange that Khan got hit as often against a quite slow guy such as Maidana. He seriously needs to stop moving right back into the ropes and staying there when hit.

Khan is still very young, and is under the best coach for him as far as improvement goes. Kid will be ok. This skilled puncher Steward is talking about isn't at 140.

    1) The kid's wide open for punches from above his half pekabo guard. Thats pretty much the flaw.

    2) he has absolutely no ability to punch with and opponent or time his shots.

    3) His movement looks spectacular but when a guy can get past his jab it turns out thats basically the only shot he can throw on the move...so the fight becomes much more stationary when he meets skilled defenders.

Amir Khan fights too square, so instead of fighting side on where by your body is in a naturally torqued position, where by it makes it easier to step and pivot and cycle backward where your still capable of stopping and rattling off a combo, Khan fights too square and so takes lots of these little baby steps/side steps, Adamek does it, but his issues seems to be that he moves the back foot first, instead of the front foot, but it has the same results when pressure is applied, he to gets himself out of position, in vulnerable spots. With that said, Amir fighting so square kind of helps him in another sense, because his body is square, his shoulders are square, so when he throws a right hand, it does not have as far to travel across the body, which means when he puts 3/4's together, he can do it quicker and utilize that posture effectively, but as I have explained, its a double edged sword.

I believe this. I think Maidana made Khans chin look a lot stronger than it was..

Maidana hits hard, but aint quick enough and skilled enough to capitalize.. He had Khan badly hurt, if he was more skilled he'd have got rid of Khan. He was just throwing big looping hooks

I like Khan a lot but he defo has a lot of flaws. His defence has improved under Roach I suppose... I don't really think he's learned any new tricks but he's finally realised that he can't stand and trade with everyone, keeps his guard higher and uses his feet to get out of harm's way. That's basically his defence - get the gloves up and do some Yuri Foreman-style strides round the periphery of the ring until he has some breathing room. Set feet, throw a combo, then repeat. His inside game is poor as well, as everyone knows. His upper body movement is way too stiff and he can't really throw short shots. He just looks so awkward when he's forced to fight in the pocket.

Agree with whoever talked about a boxer-puncher being the worst fight out there for Khan. Maidana had the power but was throwing looping, telegraphed shots all fight, and even then still managed to find the target. A guy with power, along with speed and good timing is going to really put him to the test.

Khan is flawed but **** it, speed + good combination punching + decent power + vulnerability = a guy whose fights I wanna be watching.

Again, the gloves up high defense is a double edged sword.

Fighting with your hand high give the opponent the body, especially if you square up, then your giving both sides of the body, and if you have a tendency to lean your head into the gloves when trying to cover up, like Amir does, that inside uppercut is there, which Maidana was jamming up through his gloves when he shelled up. Fighting with your hands high also means when you jab, that your elbow has to come down before you can jab out, so you have to get closer when you jab, which is obviously more dangerous, makes it easier to slip. Fighting with your hands high also impedes your vision, especially when moving to the left.
