WAR MONTIEL! Upset the odds, bring back the titles to Mexico!!!

 

Donaire knocks out Montiel in the 2nd round!

Nonito Donaire is the now WBC/WBO BW champion after he knocked out Ferdnando Montiel with an :::E:X:L:O:S:I:V:E::: left hand counter to the head. Donaire, much like Montiel last year vs. Hasegawa, risked to take his opponent's best shot to deliver his own power punch with lethal accuracy. It was a very heavy knockdown and somehow the true Mexican warrior stood up as the referee, clearly out of control, let the fight on which was a terrible mistake, but luckily it didn't end up with a brutal KO as after some punishment the 3rd man finally stopped the bout.

For Donaire, this could be his only bantamweight title fight as he plans to move up and capture a SBW belt - him vs. Nishioka would be awesome - whereas Montiel, if he's OK and not heavily affected by the brutal punch - might try to get a 122lbs belt himself and become the 1st Mexican 4-division champion.

I wouldn't mind a Nishioka-Donaire, Shimoda-Montiel HBO doubleheader, would you?

 

They come if it makes $$$ sense. They do sellouts in Japan so it's only profitable to fight away before a relatively small crowd if they get a high fix paycheck and let the local promoters worry about expenses. If HBO is ready to put a good amount and Arum won't lowball Champions Nishioka and Shimoda, it could get done easily.

Remember Nishioka knocked out Gonzalez in Mexico.
