Eamonn Magee: squandered talent?

    Dude's always seemed to me like he should've been able to do more, just based on what I've seen him do in the ring. I think if he were better conditioned he could've handled Hatton, who just overwhelmed him down the stretch.

    Yep he was talented but talent is a small part of the game and he didn't want it enough at top level. Shame cos he was skillful and could of mixed in world class company and done alright for himself.

    Boxing's not just the punches and the footwork etc, it's a massive mental game and a lot of these guys are either to mentally weak to train or weak mentally when going gets tough. Magee i think just didn't give a damn basically he just liked a set to and got paid for it.

    Magee was solid, but nothing special IMO. Eamonn Loughran... now that was a modern squandered Irish talent.

    Tough guy, if I remember right he had a poor work rate which let him down, he was a tough fight for anyone mind. Remember my heart sinking when he put Hatton on his arse.

    a liked the guy, shame the the provos had to shoot him.

    Remember spending an afternoon in a Pub in Belfast, sunny day outside, where we sat. With us was Alex Higgins, one of the Best afternoons Ive Had, Eamonn was Spot on :good

    Tremendous fighter. Fantastic short hooks, very accurate and good to the body.
    If fitter and more disciplined could have been a genuine world champion IMO.
