Walls was a cousin of my barber and from what I understand, he was supposed to fight Marciano back in the 50s. I can't find film of Walls fighting, so those who have seen him, how would he have fared against Marciano had they fought?

I think that this fight was seriously considered by team Marciano.

Probably best that they didn't take it, because the Marciano detractors would have flipped out, if he fought somebody who was only ranked #4!

Walls was a good fighter, but he strikes me as a guy who had to think about it a bit, rather than a guy who did it instinctively.

That probably gets him beaten up against Marciano.

I actually think the detractors would have liked walls as an opponent

He was 6’3 had a 78” reach and a big punch. Certainly a much more threatening style than short stubby armed slow plodder Cokkell could bring to the table

Believe me, they would have found some reason why Walls didn't count, as legitimate big opponent.

Primo Carnera was the lineal champion, the biggest in the sports history until Fury, and is obviously a good technical boxer on film for a big fighter.

If he can be dismissed as "a circus strongman", then how difficult would Walls be to dispose of?

Earl Walls was big and strong but the fight would be dismissed and Walls style would have hurt him vs Marciano's swarming

Walls have any fixed fights that you are aware of?

You couldn't miss Carnera with a right hand.Louis said he, "had nothing" just size not ability.

Walls was KO'd in 1 round by Abel Cestac in 1950 (who lost 2X to Archie Moore in 1951, early in his career he was stopped by a good heavyweight Joe Lindsay and 4-11 fighter George Washington, after the Cestac KO loss he lost a decision to 177lb Jimmy Slade,

He beat Layne 2x in 1953 and them Bernie Reynalds, split 2 with Tommy Harrison and was building momentum but the lost to 7-2 Edgardo Romero (who lost his next 10 fights before retiring) As a barometer Walls drew with 6'3 James J.Parker in 1955 for the Canadian Heavyweight title but Parker was already Ko'd by Dan Bucceroni in 2, stopped by Bernie Reynalds & lost to Nino Valdes and Parker was KO'd by Archie Moore in 1956 Walls looked like a good contender at the end of 1953 but Marciano had the Walcott rematch and then the LaStarza rematch then the 2 Charles fights.

In retrospect he may have made a better replacement than Kockel only because of the 6'2.5 size but Kocell was rated higher and was on a 10 fight win streak either way Walls would have been stopped like Kocel was

You sure? Boxrec has Walls as born in 1928 and Wikipedia has Chaka Khan as born in 1953 so Walls would have been 24/25 years old when she was born. Although, I have read about a woman that was a grandmother at 29 and I think that the youngest ever recorded grandmother in history was 24.
