Early 1900's boxing style compared to modern?

Pretty pointless to try and get a whole from the footage of either. There is no footage of Greb, and Ketchell only has one unusually poor fight, and the size mismatch with Johnson.

 

It’s really hard to say. People who thrived in one era might have looked far less impressive if they had happened to come along in a much stronger (or just much different) era. I don’t agree with the notion that all ATG boxers possess some special intrinsic, timeless abilities that would transcend any and all differences in competition.
