Next time it'll do even better, especially in the UK. To be fair, boxing is now in the UK, it's totally left America in the shades this past decade.

Joshua's fight with Klitschko reportedly made $90million and his fight with Parker reportedly made $68million. I think you're selling the potential pot of a fight with Wilder short.

    It's not true there either.

Holyfield/Tyson 2 almost reached 2 million PPV buys, Holyfield/Tyson 1 was at almost 1.6 million, Tyson drew in a 1.5 million audience when he fought McNeely, Mayweather/Mosley came in at 1.4 million and so did Holyfield/Foreman.

Admittedly none of these are recent but it shows it can be done in the US market without a "hispanic boxer in the main event"

Correct but remember the guys you mentioned were stars.

It's most likely too early for Wilder/Fury to be drawing 1 mil plus.

I agree plus Wilder could ask for a condition that if he wins and there is a rematch Joshua has to take the same deal.

I'm not disputing that Wilder and Fury are a long way away from being able to draw in an audience of 1 million or more, I'm just disputing the idea that it's impossible for anyone to do it unless there's a hispanic fighter involved.

Tyson drew crowds wherever he went. He could of boxed a journeyman and still sold 1 million PPV's, because when you watch him, you expect a devastating knockout. Not only did Tyson knock you out but he had this intimidating personality that drew you in.

Floyd I was more shocked that he became a PPV star, because of his style. I've always believed Floyd was a special boxer, even as an amateur, but I didn't really believe the Americans would take to his boxing style the way they did.

Just been thinking this through in terms of Wilders next move. Everything rests with who has the power in Wilders camp. I believe Haymon etc will lead him down the Fury rematch route as they want to keep showtime PPV going and can sell the idea of PPV to other fighters in the stable, particularly with Dazn trying to kill it off. Haymon would likely be able to try and sell Fury as a PPV star in the US if he wins so will not care who wins the fight. However I think Wilders odds will go down in the second fight as he will fight a better Fury, maybe this is why Finkel is open to the Joshua fight which will be viewed as a 50/50 fight for more money. Finkel has no long term relationship to satisfy with showtime.

Big Dave Meltzer sounded quite impressed at the numbers he was hearing. Still find it amusing to hear him talk about boxing. Impressed as he was, he was still not ready to give it fight of the night. One of the MMA bouts got that award.

Biggest deal in sports was signed where? Oh, Saul Alvarez in U.S.A.
The U.K. market is booming, but there is still a tremendous amount of money in Murica. It is not to be underestimated.

So well short of the 1 million predicted. The rematch has to be in a UK stadium and not the tinpot staples venue. Fury has gone viral in the UK so the fight would sellout a 60K stadium. PPV in the UK would be high and the serious fight fans in the US would buy.

This. It'll probably do a bit more but not drastically so, certainly nowhere near 1M.

Yeah because 320k for fighters who have never fought on PPV before is fine. Its just Wilder fanboys and AJ haters had to come with there ridiculous predictions of 1 mil+ all because they were desperate to be able to stick it to Hearn.

I see those guys haven't posted yet.

No doubt team Wilder were hoping for an unrealistic number to strengthen their position but this was never going to do the numbers some wanted it too.

Wilder v AJ wouldn't of done hugely different either.

America is huge, but only by fighters they take in. They still haven't taken to Wilder, even though the guy knocks people out cold and talks well. Still shocks me how that the guy isn't doing 1 million PPV's in America. He should be huge. If he was promoted by Hearn he would of been a lot bigger of a star. Heavyweight boxing is in England though. It'll be interesting to see how the PPV did in England.
