300K is very, very surprising. I thought for sure this fight would be at about 150-200K tops! The rematch will likely double that. This is a very easy fight to sell now. The undefeated lineal hw champion who came back from depression and addiction to face the feared knock out artist and undefeated hw champion and miraculously got off the canvas in the 12th round from a brutal knockdown and fought to the final bell in a fight many thought he won. Then all you have to do is replay that final knockdown and him getting up and throwing punches and it'll sell. 600K easy!

I couldn't be further away from the UK FFS,

You said you had to have a hispanic fighter involved and you are clearly wrong!!!!

Now you are making excuses for why you are wrong or obviously you think Floyd is hispanic lol

Fury fights for UK & Ireland,

I might be wrong but I do think this PPV has borderline crossed over to mainstream, that makes it exponentially bigger PPV wise THAN THE 1st fight.

I will come back here either way and back my words up or admit I was delusional. Lets see

I personally think if the 2nd does less than 500k, then Wilder/Fury have no right to above 40% in terms of drawing power against AJ

    750k-1mill and they probably deserve 50/50, 1mill+ and Wilder/Fury become A-Side!!!!

They could EASILY get 1mPPV for the rematch but they need an undercard full of good, well known Mexican/Latino boxers. Or maybe GGG.

That's actually not bad for a fight with such little promotion. I kind of figured it would be about 300k, which is about 20% of Wilder's audience vs. Stiverne and Ortiz on regular Showtime.

The floor and lower two sections were packed. The suites looked pretty full. They didn't start selling upper level seats until the days leading up to the event and they were largely empty.

I'll email my buddy who works for AEG and see if he has a number.

Lewis vs. Holyfield dropped 35% from fight one to rematch
Kovalev vs Ward dropped 25% from fight one to rematch

And yes, both of these fights lit up the social-media/blogosphere/internet forums on absolute fire over the controversy and that wasn't enough to lift up the rematch. Not saying a rematch will flop, I am saying be careful using hardcore boxing fan discussions as a yard stick for casual fan interest in a rematch.

Lewis Holyfield angered people and people got turned off to a rematch the backlash was so bad. DW/TF has built up a lot of good will in the controversy. Also we all saw that Lewis was clearly better than EH where as this fight is still a toss up because of what both fighters bring to the table. TF could school DW again and not get drop and win a dominant decision or DW could catch him and knock him out cold.
Kov/Ward have absolutely no appeal to casual audiences in the US. That fight was for the hardcores.

That being said I completely agree with you on using hardcore boxing fan discussions as a yard stick.

A lot of good posts on here. I was hopeful that Wilder Fury II would push 1 mil buys. But yeah, the historical evidence makes that seem fairly unlikely.

I do think there is a certain degree of uncharted waters here, in terms of many of the factors that would make this especially marketable. Both undefeated HW's with a claim to a title. Maybe the most amazing off the deck moment in the last 50 years. A lot of social media attention. The legitimization of both fighters. Their showmanship. The fact that Part I did at the very high level of historical precedent for a first time PPV event.

I think if they don't raise the price, 600k buys is a reasonable expectation. And I wouldn't rule out a historic increase beyond that.

The top 5 selling PPV earners in history only have one "Hispanic" and that's Oscar De La Hoya, the other 3 are Black and Manny Pacquiao..

I figured it would do around 220k'ish.... so it did better than I thought, but still pretty meh, imo.

This might be one of the times where the rematch outdoes the first fight though. Seems like magnitudes more exposure after this fight than there was coverage of it beforehand. Might translate to a more anticipated rematch.

I have seen this fight reaching places that I don't typically see. Places only mega fights like MayMac & MayPac reach.
Nobody expected this fight to be any good, it was going to be a stinker and a mismatch.
    320k is great numbers considering...

IMO it has since reached past the typical boxing hardcore bubble in to mainstream.
I think they need to strike while the iron is hot on part 2

If they get it on while it still has hype I do believe it will attract great numbers. May or June 2019 @ the absolute latest.
No need to marinate it like boxing tends to do, that will just kill any mainstream appeal it could have had.
