Manny speed is what is going to bother Cotto the most. But something people overlook from Cotto is that he has very good timing.
The Judah fight is a good example since Judah is a fast southpaw with good power. If Cotto can adjust to Manny than Pacquiao is going to have to go thru hell to win which its been a while since hes been in a competitive fight.

Cotto does have good timing. But Manny changes his stance, his style. He has the ability to keep his opponent guessing what he will do next. I predict that as soon as Cotto gets Manny down, he will change it. Watch for Freddie roach to tell him between rounds. Now trying to adapt to the new style, while being peppered at the same time will be most fustrating for Cotto

Yep I think he got bored with winning easy fights and thats why he wanted this real challenge, props to Manny for that. Mad respect to him.

Judah has always had all the tools but still managed to suck somehow. The Quintana win was very impressive. Though i don't think either of these guys come close to asking the offensive question Manny will. Judah has always had great handspeed and could throw impressive combinations but he is missing Cotto's cryptonite - work rate, and Pacquaio can set a very good pace in the first half of a fight.

If Cotto showed defensive improvements in the Clottey fight i would be more inclined to pick him, but his defense was sporadically applied and down right terrible at times. Considering he has never fought anyone who can put punches together like Manny, i think he is going to wear a lot of leather.

The only question for me is whether or not Cotto has the power to stop Manny without a buildup of sustained damage. Manny barely got hit against Oscar and Hatton so for me his resilience is the only big question mark remaining.

I agree with Konaman, Manny hasnt had his jaw really test since JMM. Now those wars he fought with JMM and EM, he had a great chin. But he's in the 140's now. big difference. I still think he can take em, but we'll have to wait and see.

cotto needs to takea page out of his younger days.....cotto is a very underrated counter-puncher he did it a lot in his early fights......agression is cotto's problem, and manny will kill him if cotto comes forward....he needs to make manny pay for HIS agression....

Not "running", no. He may backpedal or start to box and move, but not "run".

I think if he backpedals it may be to bait Manny, then he will try to move forward again.. Cotto will have to practice his footwork not going backwards but side to side, foward to catch Manny as he bounces around.. I would suggest Cotto do Rocky thing where he tries and catches the chicken because Manny will be bouncing around throwing and If Cotto wants to win this he will have to be on his toes as well at all angles..

If he charges in like Hatton and gets to Manny,it will be Manny tasting the canvas if Cotto gets to him,Cotto can take Manny's power for short burst, hell Oscar took a beating for more than six rounds without throwing hardly anything and he was drained

I don't think so . . . but it depends on how well Cotto carries the catch weight thing.

My guess is a some point Cotto will be backing up whether it's voluntarily or because of Pac's effective aggression.

Yes, Cotto does not look good when he runs. We will find out, but Pac is much better than anyone knew.
