I`d have to go with Ernesto here. Marcel to me is one of the most underrated fighters in the history of the lower weight divisions and was one of the slickest boxers I haver ever seen in any weight class, period. He had a beautiful style that combined superb defensive and offensive skills, and he also had excellent balance and a very fluid slip and countering ability that I feel would give JMM fits all night long. Marquez was a great counter-puncher with excellent technical ability of his own just like Marcel, but he was never quick on his feet unlike the fleetfooted Panamanian who hopped around the ring on his toes gracefully and this is way I see the Mexican falling behind early and never being able to get back in the fight. You aren`t going to beat someone like Marcel by playing the role of the counter-puncher, you would have to be the aggressor to have a chance against him. Even that however doesn`t guarantee success though as he demonstrated against both Antonio Gomez and a young Alexis Arguello, both men took the fight to Marcel and neither man won more than 4 rounds each on my card. I see the Mexican losing a 10-5, 11-4 type of decision on the scorecards, with his inability to close the gap between himself and Marcel due to his more flatfooted style seeing him getting outboxed most of the night. The occasional counter will get through to get Marcels attention, but it won `t be nearly enough to win the fight and I see him playing a game of catch-up all night long to no avail.
