Why do fighters talk so much **** after their career is finished? Its not like they can back up anything they say since they wont fight again. It just makes them look like complete idiots

Shavers is as ******ed as most posters in the history section, who believe that all past champions were better than the current ones :rofl

Tyson beat Spinks, Tucker (who, in his prime, looked like Ali), Berbick, James Smith, 38-year-old Holmes, Bruno. And he knocked out Douglas, but the ref gave him a 14-count, then gave him further time to recover, and the round was over.

Shavers never beat a great opponent.

 

Mike Tyson said great things about Earnie Shavers in the video below. It's a shame Shavers is so classless as to diminish Tyson's achievements, especially since Tyson did far more than Shavers did, including winning the HW championship and dominating the division, until he had the title stolen from him by a bad ref.

Ernie Shavers was a huge puncher. Just watch his vids if in any doubt. But 10 Holyfields? Oh please Ernie! He did have some handy wins though including Kenny Norton, Jimmy Ellis & Jimmy Young.

I agree with you 100 percent Cachibatches, Frazier knocked a prime or close to prime undefeated Ali while Shavers landed punch after punch on a past his prime unmotivated Ali and couldnt knock him down. Ali never mentions Fraziers power but praised Shavers. You cant believe the bull some fighters say.

Shavers feasted off other fighters sloppy seconds like Manny Pac does. He never stopped a world class figher in their primes and he was knocked out by guys like Quarry who werent big fighters size wise of power wise.

 

Agree 100%. I don't think anyone doubts Shaver's was a huge puncher and one of the top pfp heavyweight punchers but I don't buy into the automatic response that Shavers was the biggest puncher in history.

As far as beating ten Holyfields, not even close. He had some decent wins but Shavers could never beat Holyfield and I have little doubt that both Klitschkos ko Shavers. Big puncher, solid contender during the greatest heavyweight era, but also a bit overrated by some.

Good chance against Wlad? Take another look at Shaver's fights with Jerry Quarry or Randle "Tex" Cobb both of whom I'd rate much lower than Wlad :hat
