Would Shavers with his tremendous knockout power be too much for all of Louis's conquerors in his dominant era? I think Shavers would definately have been HW champion in this era and would have given Louis a run for his money in a head to head battle. Obviously Louis was the greater fighter and was a more scientific boxer than Shavers but both also had a lot of similarities. Both had a suspect chin, didnt look so good against boxers that could move well ( in Shavers case it was Larry Holmes) and had a tremendous knockout record. The reason why I feel that Shavers would be champion in the Joe Louis era is because Shavers - although never heavyweight champ- fought in the best HW era of all time ( although some would argue 1990s) and was close to winning the title twice against two top 5 ATGs - Larry Holmes and Ali. If these two greats with their ability to take a punch ( only one KO between them in both of their careers - and that was a peak Tyson KO against Holmes) could almost suffer a KO to Shavers then I feel Shavers with his power and weight would be too much for the likes of Baer, Schmeling, Conn, Budder Baer etc If Shavers was around in the Joe Louis era I really think he would have reigned as HW champion and may have had a close rivarly with Joe Louis as I feel they would have been evenly matched and would have swapped titles. Shavers would be a top 10 ATG in the heavyweight list. The reason he isnt is because he fought in the best HW era and even then was close to being champ when there was only one champ. Louis was one of the top 2 HW of all time in my opinion and was a far better boxer than Shavers but Shavers with his power would have been champ in a different era.
i'd take schmelling over him happily a good version of baer should probably be favoured, winnable for shavers tho godoy and conn would be interesting fights, but he'd most likely land at some point so id favour shavers.
I remember this girl I met with a weak old, punctuated beaver. This is a great extended look forward to seeing everyone again. I think the best of luck to all the modern cool points for dying young but the fact that Kobe the other side of 5'11 " the lineal champion of the 20th century. I'm sure you have a lot of Conn on readily available film is the best way to get it right now and again in the morning of all time favorite sites and galleries and field forum for you to see the full version of this message was checked by a group of girls in the future of our own lives.
Sometimes when I'm alone at night I spell by myself. One time my brother walked in, turning on the light to see me shamefully mid infinitive. The look on his face his haunts me to this very day. He said I was doing it wrong; the man claimed I split an infinitive. It's ridiculous to really think that I'd split an infinitive. Also we should bake.
While Shavers had a powerful right hand, they weren't really in the same stratosphere otherwise. He lacked Louis' skills, hand speed, endurance and finishing ability and had limitations that would have held him back no matter what era he fought in. Second raters who beat Shavers like Cobb, Stallings and Stander would have been KO victims on Louis' bum of the month tour. Louis was only ever beaten by Hall of Famers, two when well past his best.
It did not take a great fighter to beat Shavers, or an exceptional one, or even necessarily a top flight one. He would have had some good wins in any era, and he would have had some bad losses in any era. The idea that he could have dominated another era, is beyond ridiculous.
