    I agree. I totally agree.

Shavers hit harder "in general," but Mike had more skill at actually landing his bombs. Especially when his opponent was moving into him.

This thread isn't really much about skill. It's just about who hits harder "in general." Foreman and Shavers both hit harder "in general" than Tyson, but lacked the skill to land their power much. Foreman also had poor leverage a lot. (But not always.)

The crazy arguments and logic fallacies were bad enough, but the horrendous grammar was mind numbing. I had to throw in the towel and just watch the burning sinking ship for the spectacle it was.

Not "harder." He hit people in a way that did enormous damage, though, since he had the skill to hit people with punches they were unprepared for.

Mike was a better, more effective puncher than Shavers, even though Shavers was a harder puncher.

I don't understand how what I said is different from what you said.

Mike did more damage to sensitive areas than Shavers because his speed and skill allowed him to land on those areas better and more often.

He was not a harder puncher, because I define harder punching as just being related ONLY to the force of the punch. Even if it lands on the arms or shoulders

Cut short, Mike is an effective puncher while Shavers is the harder puncher. Nuff said

Thought this was very clear but somehow it took forever to reach a consensus.

Shavers hits like an out of control cement truck going downhill in neutral with no driver, but is very crappy at finishing off most elite opponents who have good survival skills and defense. Easily top 5 in terms of just raw power, I don't see how anyone could dispute that.

Tyson himself admitted he wasn't the hardest puncher and said it was his technique, speed, and timing that put him into the upper bracket, although he definitely hits damn hard himself at least an 8/10 with his best shots bare minimum.

If I would say a puncher with good technique, precision, speed, accuracy and timing but zero raw power. The prime example of that would be Jose Medel

My top 5 for sheer power is probably something like

    Wilder
    Shavers
    Foreman
    Liston
    Wladmir
