Shavers brutalises him early. This talk about Berbick being durable, what punchers did he prove he could take the power from? All of the guys he was ‘durable’ against weren’t punchers, he had great stamina and fought at a constant pace and was very strong, but his defence was very average, just hands up.

Shavers brutalises him with that right uppercut straight through the gap of the earmuffs and follows up with devastating combinations, if you didn’t have knockout power, Berbick may give you a tough time, but if you have knockout power, especially in combinations, Berbick is a sitting duck, guys like Chuvalo, Mercer etc, proved they could take punches from big punchers and showed some subtle skills to see punches coming and ride them, there was none of that with Berbick, he simply didn’t fight many huge punchers, but when he did, Bernardo Mercado took him out in 1 and there was Tyson in 2, but that’s Tyson tbf.

Berbick, like Norton, did better with boxers. I honestly see him getting flattened as soon as he’s hit flush. 3 rounds.
