Shavers has the bigger names on his resume and was competitive against the best of his era, however, Haye is the better athlete better speed of both hand and foot, better dexterity and fights an unorthodox style of circle away and ambush you with a quick strike. Intriguing matchup I think Haye would likely outbox Shavers with his tricky style but Shavers would have more than the proverbial punchers chance to win. Slight edge to Haye.

Again, who has Haye beaten at heavy ? And who has he fought ? Then look at Shavers ledger... Do people really think that Shavers can`t hurt Haye with his first solid shot ????

Valuev, Chisora and Ruiz are decent scalps.

I personally would pick Valuev over Shavers.

I don`t think they are bragging right scalps ...Valuev ? Chisora ?? Even Ruiz was old and done, the other two were never anything much at all :( OLD Holyfield beat Valuev, and got screwed...

Lets try to be realistic here please. David Haye with his ankles tied together 20 inches apart would have more mobility than Ron Lyle.

No more needs to be said.

Haye is NEVER going to stand in front of Shavers, and trade. What he would do is box and move, then wait for an opening where he suddenly explodes one of his own bombs on Earnie's chin. Because he has the speed and reflexes, to do just that.

You have to realize that DH was a cruiserweight for most of his career.

Of course he isn't going to have as many notable HW victories. Haye doesn't have all of the losses that ES has either.

His overall resume and accomplishments are much better than Shavers.

Ali and Holmes boxed Shavers too. Their chin is what saved them. Not their ring mastery.

His opponent list PALES against who Shavers fought... Not even in the same league... Of course he doesn`t have the losses that Shavers had. But AGAIN, who has he fought that is considered quality at heavy ??? No more Valuev,Chisora or a used up Ruiz...

I would hope that everyone realizes when Shavers lands,(and he did against Ali and Holmes) fights over ! Unless you want to tell me that A,Haye has a better chin than Ali and Holmes. Or B, Haye is a better boxer than Ali and Holmes so he won`t get hit. Can`t wait to see this answer. Haye looks like a plodding clown compared to Ali and Holmes footwork !!!

That's my thinking as well. Haye's best chance is to land something big early or try to pull a Jerry Quarry on Shavers. He's not going to just dance circles around him all night long and not get tagged.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

    1. The fast approaching 36 year old Ali had better footwork than Haye.

    2. Holmes and better than average footwork being mentioned in the same sentence.

    Comedy must be your hobby.

You are of course referring to the Holmes coming off a less than stellar performance against Weaver. Not the Holmes that won every round against Shavers 18 months earlier.

Yeah that's the one. The one who was in the peak of his prime 1in 1979.

With better boxing skills than Haye and a beard that could take a bit more :good

Good I'm glad we've got that right. The one who made the " Ooooh so dangerous ) Earnie Shavers look a novice. Total shutout.

The same Earnie Shavers who you think could cope with the mobility and hand speed of Haye.:lol::lol:
