Of course how could we ALL forget about the granite chin that Haye has and that INCREDIBLE fighting heart !! Cracked his toe nail against Klit, and fought on in spite of excruciating pain. Truly an effort for the ages !! Great stuff my man ;)

Yep. The ooooh so dangerous shavers who took one of the greatest of all time a combined 23 rounds and very nearly had him out.

    You got it bud..

Fighters with worse chins than Holmes and Ali were hit by Shavers and still won.

Boxers more limited than Haye were hit by Shavers and still won.

It ain't exactly like we're solving the Da Vinci Code here and a fighter had to be Ali or Holmes to do it. Dude looked like a great puncher (although I think you're overrating him a bit here) with fringe contender skills and defense.

Shavers by brutal one round kayo. Shavers wasn't great but he wouldn't need to be. Today's heavies are wank and I don't give a **** what a certain person will doubtless say. Two more to kayo Haye would be Weaver and Thomas.

I have to laugh that people think Haye accomplished anything at heavy... Very sad sate of affairs...

More sad that people act like a fringe contender with a punch was so much better than he was.

Punchers always get overrated though, so it's no surprise.

^ This statement can apply even more to Haye than to Shavers.

(although we could say "self-promoting loud-mouth punchers get overrated" in Haye's case.)

David Haye looked no better against a washed up Valuev than a 48 year old Evander Holyfield did. He pounded the corpses of John Ruiz, Monte Barrett and Audley Harrison. His win over Derek chisora is ok I suppose but only based on the fact that Chisora seems to have done fairly well since. At the time he was in a slump and viewed as just an opponent. Haye went the distance with Wladimir Klitschko by refusing to engage and basically putting up a non effort. Earnie Shavers dropped some bad losses to lesser opponents and had some glaring defects as a fighter. I won't pretend that we're putting David Haye in with Joe Louis. But to think that Haye will casually outbox shavers and not get tagged by the man who had Larry Holmes, Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young all saying that he hurt them more than anyone else is ridiculous.

Hahahahaha I love watching the desperate squirm.

Who ( other than you ) mentioned Haye's " granite " chin? His performance against Klitchko was dreadful, but again ( other than you ) who would compare WK with a plodding slugger like Shavers?

I'd back Wlad to bomb Shavers out inside 3 rounds. The point being Shavers is a lot easier to hit than Haye, damaged toe or no damaged toe.

    Keep up the good work.

    Are you on drugs?

You are actually trying to big up a guy who lost by total shutout in his first attempt at Holmes, and was then stopped by him in the return.

The thing is you can speculate all you like as to how Haye would have got on against Holmes, but you'll never know. But we do know that for 12 rounds Holmes totally humiliated Shavers like a novice, then 18 months later beat him into submission.

**** poor example of how " great ":lol::lol: Shavers was.

Foxy the ever classy one and a legend in your own mind... Your knowledge is astounding !! David Haye is def an all time great hitter. A patheitc excuse of a heavyweight without a significant win. But, hey you are the resident Einstein of boxing so who is Earnie Shavers anyway ???
