Shavers by ko Ruiz was awkward, so it would probably take Shavers a few rounds to pin him down. I'll say Shavers by ko or tko in 5 rounds.
I would like to see Shavers win.. But when contrasting the two styles and track records of these fighters, its hard to see exactly how he'd pull it off. Whilst its true that Ruiz was stopped twice in his career, we have to remember that one of them came in the last fight of his career when he was basically shot, while the other happened before he had settled into what would be his career fighting style and primarily caused by a series of hard left hooks ( not shavers signature punch. ) John, despite his horrifically boring and frustrating tactics was about as hard to stop as it is to kill a c0ckroach. And Shavers' stamina often failed him. Earnie might have out pointed him in a 12 round match if his endurance held out and was the busier of the two. Or perhaps he'd get lucky and catch Ruiz cold as Tua did early.. But I think the most likely outcome is John sleezing his way to a decision or late TKO in what would probably a be a boring match.
Yeah, but Ruiz's quality of opposition was pretty medicore. The Holyfield he faced wasn't as dangerous as prime Shavers. The Rachmann who faced Ruiz wasn't either. And his stamina was just as erratic as Shaver's
