Both dangerous, unpredictable, disappointing at times, with decent wins on their records. Who takes this, prime for prime?
Snipes has to get off the floor, to out hustle Shavers for the UD in a close fight... Snipes had a set of B@lls, and was very hard to discourage:think I could see a scenario where Shavers could catch him and end it with 1 punch, tough call:huh One thing for sure it Would be a very interesting, entertaining duel.. I just like Renaldo in this one..
I'm not sure. Both were erratic. Snipes never got taken out early though and hung in there with some pretty tough guys. Anybodies fight really.
Snipes could win this if he runs around and slaps his way to a decision, ala the Coetzee fight. Although the Coetzee decision was somewhat dubious. If he tries to fight with Earnie, he will lose even though Snipes did have a pretty good chin.
Snipes wins. If Quick Tillis can get off the floor and survive Earnie, albeit an older one, that Renaldo can use his awkward style to discourage Earnie for a UD.
Awkward style? I'll give you a decent set of whiskers but Snipes's 'big' right was amateurish at best and school yard stupid at worst (why does Jack Bodell come to my mind?) IMHO THE low point in Holmes career was to get caught with such a stupid 'you see it comin' a mile away' shot. OK some old Earnie, which you mentioned, might have fallen prey to this clown but pvp no contest. The clown would probably back-peddle from the start. In closing, Snipes is nothing more than a blip on the radar screen who can tell his grandkids he decked Holmes. But please don't tell the grandbabies you were, basically, a piece of poo...
I like peak Earnie in this one...quite strongly actually. If you look at the Shavers of the Norton fight he was pretty sharp; good, sharp, hard punches delivered correctly and ruthlessly...I think this Earnie would get to Snipes and take him out early. Snipes did have his moments (decking Holmes & beating Berbick) but largely speaking I thought he was generally a notch below the Thomases, Weavers, Dokes', Pages etc. With regard to assessing Shavers, I tend to disregard what he did post Holmes 2, I don't think his ambition was the same after this fight.
whilst a Shavers win in a round or two is possible i find it highly unlikely. Snipes was never blown out in his career, ever. Snipes pts for me
what does tillis getting off the floor have to do with snipes using an awkward style? Snipes was awkward though, and a good fighter. But no match for an ernie shavers. Snipes has never been blown out in his career? He never fought a guy who could hit like Shavers, Coetzee is the closest thing to a puncher he faced and he only KO 2 or 3 top tier guys. When they reattached mr snipes head to his body after ernie hits him, it would be straight into retirement
