I’ll cautiously say Jones. Never thought much of Shavers.

I think the better question would be:

Innocent bystander vs Jones' dislocated jaw that comes right at his direction at mach speed.

Jones by decision but Shavers would had a puncher chance.

As I keep saying I'm a big fan of RJJ but how many genuine punchers did he fight in his prime can you name one ? I guess Merqui Sosa hit hard but I don't really remember Jones ever fighting someone where he had that threat of an opponent being able to chin him with 1 punch.

I think RJJ could school Shavers but it really only takes 1 punch from Shavers and RJJ goes bye bye. Ruiz was able to land right hands on RJJ and if he can then Shavers certainly can.

I think RJJ wins every round and then gets sparked out of nowhere in the middle rounds.

    Well it’s best vs best.

Shavers of the Clark II and Norton fights destroys Roy. Earnie hit immensely harder and was much faster and more accurate than The Quiet Man.

Ruiz is the worst possible metric at HW to afford Roy advantage over other decent HWs.

Roy at HW wasn't as fleet of foot as his lighter self.

He found a way of occasionally positioning himself against the ropes and turning away with his eyes closed from oncoming shots - much like my thoughts on Roy fighting Marciano, when Shavers catches up with him and lights up the body and then lands to the head, Roy will freeze, as most naturally lighter fighters do when they first experience the shock of a true HW monster puncher's power, and the following punch in the combo will leave him flat out.

7/10 Jones wins but the times he doesn't it will look like the Tsar Bomba went off on his chin.

This is not a bad take either. If Shavers can find a way to put the power to work RJJ will be in trouble. I just never fancied Shavers as a boxer though.

Roy wouldn't get in the ring with Shavers

Whilst I don't rate him as an elite boxer, I know that he has a thunderous left hook and right hand. As I said, I can see left hook to body against the ropes, right hand to the head and with Roy unable to go back any further and the threat of Earnie's power, I think Roy gets tagged.

I always do my fantasy H2Hs over 15 rounds and Mercante in the ring - on paper, Roy potshots his way to a whitewash, but a natural 168 lbs fighter against arguably the biggest puncher that lived, Roy's not got the chin of a Toney, B-Hop, Eubank, GGG etc. and his defensive tendencies when trapped against ropes versus a man that hits like that, I don't like that for Roy. When he gets caught, it will be like Drago, "Anything he hits, he destroys!"
