His win over Norton is better than Wilder's entire career. The fact he impressed Ali and Holmes, who would not have been hit by Wilder at all to be impressed, is better than Wilder's entire career.

Against Joshua he would have not chance whatsoever. He would be beaten to the punch and fold.

Wilder blitzes him in 1-2, Joshua controls the fight and stops him mid rounds

I dont have a high opinion of either, but shavers wasnt that great of a fighter. He was a solid contender, not even a top 3 contender in his own time

I’d put money he beats wilder. Then again I’d put money a lot of people beat Wilder. AJ I think wins by KO...but he could get floored or even knocked out in the process. I’d pick Fury to win

Wilder Shavers would be who landed first,,Joshua before he was ko'ed by Ruiz would nail Ernie,,todays version would be scared of Shavers and stay away for rounds before trying something. I'd still pick Joshua

As wildly exciting as Earnie was to watch and as hard as he hit, he had a poor record in straight up fire fights. He gets beaten by both inside 7.

He would lose to both by ko. He could hurt both of course but he was a trash finisher.
Only a scary moment with his typical crazy right hand and then he loses by stoppage

Earnie was around 6' 0" so he's significantly shorter and not that special a boxer to make up for it.
He has a puncher's chance, but he lost punchups to Lyle and Quarry.

Wilder and Joshua probably land first before Earnie and land more.

I think he would KO Wilder.

If you take the Joshua that fought Ruiz in the rematch, Joshua wins on points.

What you say is true but I still think Wilder wins by KO. Both men hit comparably hard and neither had tremendous skill. Their chief weapons were their right hands. But wilder had significant height and reach enabling him to land sooner. I also think he might have a slightly better chin and stamina

Hard to say. Joshua is more skilled, is well rounded and can throw every punch in the book but is just as vulnerable with stamina and chin issues. Joshua is also very robotic and predictable. I really don't trust Joshua to not make a mistake and survive all 12, he'd have to stop Shavers but he also can't bum rush him. The more I think about it, the more of a nail biter this matchup is. If Shavers can time the elusive and skilled Holmes, he can time Joshua. I think that's what this matchup boils down to, timing and whose staying alert to not get caught slipping.

Both guys had suspect gas tanks and are guilty of getting dragged into "mud fights" when they overexert themselves looking for the KO. But Joshua does know how to fight tall and bully shorter fighters (see the povetkin fight). I think im gonna just slightly favor Joshua 5.5/10. We still need to see more of him. If he can beat the wilder fury 3 winner and a few other decent championship level opponents then I'll be more confident. He still makes a lot of mistakes and shavers is a very dangerous opponent for a guy like him who lacks head movement and defensive skill.

Wilder is a completely different fight. I think it depends on wilder's ego. Im sure the press conference would be entertaining and he may feep he has something to prove going after shavers. He certainly has the power to end it early, but if he misses and gets countered or walks into something the damage would be downright devastating.

Wilder has all the tools to win (an underrared jab, decent lateral movement, good timing, late round ko power if he needs it), but he often fights dumb swinging away (fury 1) or gives rounds away looking fot one shot (Ortiz 2). Both habits could lead to a loss. But wilder has a solid chin and his power never fades, so on a shoot out id have to favor him 7/10 given Shavers often failed in shootouts and he often made many of the same mistakes as wilder (until the late 70's when he worked on his technique and stamina).
