No where near the shock of Tyson Douglas, speed kills, fast hands AJ was hype, not enough speed too big , gasses too easy. hopefully we can stop these silly threads of no boxer under 6 ft 4 and shorts arms etc from now on.

I wasn't comparing Ruiz to Douglas. Ruiz got a lot of criticism about being fat, but at the end of the days his skills and fast hands were more important. You don't have to be over 6'3" and super buffed to be a good heavyweight.

No, this is not the biggest upset, and yes Tyson-Douglas was. Boxing shape doesn't have jack **** to do with physique. If that was the case, Mike Weaver would be the Greatest of All Time, not Ali!

Also, prior to Douglas, Tyson was viewed as a complete destroyer, unbeatable, and unlike Douglas he had utterly destroyed and become the first man to stop the ATG that preceded him, Larry Holmes - not hit the deck against him like Joshua did against Wlad.

Believe me, as someone who was following boxing closely at that time, there is NOTHING like Douglas-Tyson in terms of upsets. Nothing.

I'm old and remember the Tyson-Douglas fight very well. There was no internet and social media back than, the way it was reported in the papers the following day was as if a world war broke out. It was front cover stuff on a global scale.

Tyson was a much more dominant- and intimidating- fighter than Joshua at that juncture in his career. Douglas was actually a credible fighter and fought the fight of his life that night, it was still a huge shock though. I'm sure the odds were much more one-sided than this AJ-Ruiz as well.

Definitely not even close to the biggest upset in history. AJ been looking suspect af in a lot of his fights and he hasn't fought anyone worth a **** yet. Tyson looked invincible. Disrespectful

Those threads where jokes... Or the ones that claim the greats of the past where too small for the giants of today.

All bollox. Those greats beat some similarly big men.

The Klits where dominant because of their youth crafted skill set, not their size.

Let's not forget Joshua was clearly beaten in the first round of the Olympics against Savon. Was a robbery. I also felt he lost the final. He got lucky he was in London.

Tyson/Douglas is still bigger imo. But this is a distant second place. The reason this isn't as big is that AJ and frankly this whole era is rather questionable.

Maybe people on here should revisit what an upset means.

I would like everyone to go through the 100000 HOURS OF FOOTAGE where the entire universe, including all professional fighters and atheletes in the universe said RUIZ had the SLIMMEST chance ever.

In fact go back and check all BETTING odds, and ALL BOXING analsysts.

THIS WAS THE BIGGEST UPSET END OF STORY,

It's not about comparing skill level with Tyson/AJ. It's all relative to the ERA they fought in,

In my mind, this isn't even the biggest heavyweight upset in the last 4 years.

Couldn’t have said it better myself except I don’t Agree with the fact that some of these posters were joking about Joshua beating old ATGs I think they were deadly serious lol

Not quite. People thought Tyson was unbeatable; we've already seen Joshua in trouble and dropped hard. This was more of a confirmation of some nagging doubts.

    Rahman-Lewis
    Tyson-Douglas
    Foreman-Ali
    Braddock-Baer

Those fights were much bigger upsets in the HW division.
