I'll be honest, I couldn't care less about the IBHOF and who's ommitted. I think people take it far too seriously.
I'll admit that I'm not all that well versed in who is and who isn't in the IBHOF but it seems to me they could have a separate category for those who have died in the ring and I think it would be nice to see them inducted into the Hall. Anyone who gives up their life for the sport of boxing has made the ultimate sacrifice. If they have sections for "non participants" and "Observers" surely they can have a category for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Cocoa Kid Career: 1941-1948 World Championships: None Hailed From: Puerto Rico/Connecticut Record: 176-56-11 (48 KO) Boxrec record Record against champions and Hall of Famers: 4-3-3 Champions faced: Archie Moore Champions defeated: None. Kid is, quite possibly, the boxer with the most wins who is not already a member of The International Boxing Hall of Fame. Don't let the 56 losses scare you. In the 1940's you fought often and you fought after long car, bus, or train rides. No first class treatment for road warriors. Kid boxed over 2,000 rounds in his long career. He boxed the great Charlie Burley to a draw, and had an eight bout series with Holman Wiliiams, going 4-2-2. Both Williams and Burley are members of the Hall of Fame.
That would be nice BUT approx. 1,500 boxers have passed away from the result of a boxing match and none of them are in the Hall of Fame, so I can't see that happening.

Morales & Barrera joint induction. No reason other than they were both outstanding individual fighters with little between them that gave us 3 fights, 1 being amongst the best in history & a very real & passionate rivalry on a par with any rivalry thats ever been.
Thankyou for taking the time to reply to this thread. I note with interest that Dave Holly is on the ballot. Has there ever been any discussion of putting Jeff Clark on the ballot? Has there been any interest in inducting Jack Blackburn as a fighter as well as a trainer?
I would be surprised if the attitude to Blackburn was anything other than "he's in, let's look at someone else".
That is probably always going to trip him up. People will not feel inclined to waste a vote on a fighter who is already in.
It strikes me as a bit rigid if a great fighter like Booker is overlooked because he was no higher than #2. Considering the depth of serious guys fighting in those divisions it seems far more impressive than half the guys already in the IBHOF. Booker never got a real shot and was forced to compete for California state titles against monsters like Jack Chase who were condemned to the same limbo as he. They fought for state belts and a pittance. Must the IBHOF be complicit in the mistakes of the past? Murderers' Row was truly for the condemned. The only reason why Archie Moore avoided their fate is because he continued on through gray hairs and creaking knees. And yet, Moore did not hesitate to proclaim Eddie Booker's superiority over him. ... hhascup... have I sent you "Shadow Boxing at the Golden Gate"?
I am not saying that he doesn't deserve it, all I am saying is that it would be hard, BUT not impossible, to get elected. Like I said, only 1 modern time boxer, who was rated #2, that never held a World Title, was ever elected in. This year they nominated someone that had a highest rating of #9 and was only rated twice during his career. There were 2 that had a highest rating of #2. I did not vote for any of them.
