Im seeing alot of guys saying Shane was shot and past it. come on guys. Mosley STILL would be favored to beat any other 147 pounder out there. just like Hatton found at 140 though, there are just 2 guys that nobody else can beat. Mosley didnt look shot to me. he was sharp and powerful in the 2nd round. Saying Mosley is shot just takes away from floyd- which is what you obviously want to do. The fact is- that Floyd MADE shane look old. He took away his left and right hands systematically- and it was a beautiful thing to watch for boxing conneseurs. Every time Shane tried to jab- floyd came over the top with his right. Every time shane threw the right he rolled with it, ducked under and responded with a hook- then a right hand for good luck. He even pressed the attack with his strong jab and lead right hand and had the noble and proud shane mosley retreating for the most of the fight. EVERY time Floyd fights a guy and smashes him- every time Manny fights a guy and smashes him- there is some hindsight that blames the loss on the opponent- that the guy was shot and old, or weight drained or blown up. We ve seen it over and over again. im getting a bit sick of it. You cant have this double standard- if you accuse Mosely of being old against Floyd- then you can take away Pacs win against Oscar for the same reason. dont criticise one fighters opponent and expect to not get criticised for your guy if you do. this whole culture that has started here- of whenever a guy gets a win- which has been the 2 p4p1 guys lately- that the opponents getting bashed- needs to stop. its unhealthy- being a hater for one- but secondly- all youre doing it taking away the credibility of the sports best fighters, taking away the shine off of the best the sport has to offer. The passing of a torch is something that happens in all sports- When the Cavs beat the celtics- people wont say Garnett is shot- and should retire will they? they give props to the winner- respect to the loser- and we herald the passing of an era. Lets do the same- and applaud the best the sport has to offer NOW- this is their time- their era- let them enjoy it- and most of all- lets relax on the hate- and learn to enjoy it for what it is ourselves. What it is is two guys who are dominating the sport from top to bottom and making this era their very own, how often have we bemoaned the lack of fresh young talent. the talent is NOW- THIS IS the golden age of our time , RIGHT NOW. Long live the two kings, but we know of course, there can only be one.
Good Post....it gets really ****in boring to wake up the day afta a fight.....and hear internet warriors gives excuses for great fighters!!
Very, very true. Two standout fighter that we're lucky to be watching in their primes, both keep amazing me, just hope we can see them share a ring.
You begin to understand why Mayweather has the chip on the shoulder when you think about all the ignorance he has had to put up over the years, especially in the press with the likes of Brian Kenny talking **** about ducking Mosley etc.
I agree with this. Some would argue that Shane ran out of gas and wouldn't let his hands go, but there is no point in letting your hands go if all you hit is air or the shoulder\glove, and halfway through your first punch you get countered with ease. Mayweather had a round to where he seemed anxious, but then he moved and Mosley couldn't get it off after that.
