martinez is a prime champ who was expected to brutally kayo burns.

spinks was shot to ****, but was still a big favourite. good win for bundrage that was.

Martinez isnt that good, he was losing to Cook until he caught him and that's his only real win of note. Gamboa's win was more impressive for me, I dont think Martinez is any better than Jackiwicz, who Zaveck beat.

well he did catch him, and he did win. and he was a huge favourite.

gamboa was expected to dominate and didnt. he underachieved.

and apparently the voters on the poll agree.

A lot of people who voted for it are British. And the fact it was a great fight helps it too.

Martinez was a top 3 fighter in his division, no other fighter in the poll beat a top 3 guy in there weight.

He did unify, John is champion in recess. Same way Chagaev was when SNV fought Haye. Did you think Peter wasnt WBC champion when Klitschko was 'champon emertius'?

Your wrong John only became champion in recess after Gamboa beat Salido so Gamboa was never the proper WBA champion like many others. Its bad enough having 4 belts do we need to count two WBA's??

Chagaev gave up his champion in recess when he faced Wlad.

Also Peter was WBC champion, Emirtius is for fighter that have retired as champions, it gives them a guarenteed title shot if they have returned.

Yeah, Gamboas win was impressive, but 'unified'? :rofl

Burns' win was the least expected, and most impressive in the manner of victory IMO.

Burns. No1 gave him a hope in hell, including me.

Wlad and Gamboa were solid favourites, and even then they wasn't too impressive.

    Burns takes it, Clev second
