Surprised Rios isn't getting more votes. He came in as the underdog against Peterson and won in emphatic fashion. To me, he put himself on the map big time. Burns' victory was wonderful, too, but much less dominant and with much less skill than Rios.

I voted for Rios, and he was dominant against a highly touted opponent. But the fashion in which he won (Peterson going ape**** with the low-blows) sort of takes the shine off the win for Rios

Really, I would have to say it was Giovanni Segura for defeating a fighter who had held his crown for many years and doing it in dominating fashion. He clearly became a name in boxing after dismantling the "Iron Boy". Since you didn't list him though, I will have to say Brandon Rios since he made a name for himself as a young star and made many fans.

Segura vs Calderon was in August.

Oh snap, you're right. OK, then Rios is my pick.

Burns...wasn't expected to win, and picked up a World Title after a great performance.

Ricky Burns, big underdog in his fight, could've been stopped early after the KD and ground out a great win

Add Margarito or other trash similar to that one in the poll and see how he wins easily.

Burns beat the highest ranked opponent of anyone and was possibly the biggest underdog, got to be him.
